So, last week, the weather was pretty crummy and when the weather gets crummy, this mama gets crafty!  Before I forget, Happy Birthday to my gorgeous mama and role model, Dori Garza! She makes 50something look GOOD!

While searching the web, I came across a couple of cute craft ideas that I thought I would share.

First, “A Very Hungry {and Colorful} Caterpillar”

Supplies Needed:

  • Paper
  • Paint
  • Precious Hands

How To Create Your Very Hungry Caterpillar:

  • Strip your kid to a diaper or undies
  • If you still have a high chair, I would recommend strappin’ that little body in to avoid some mess. If not, prepare yourself for some paint drippage.
  • I grabbed Caroline’s hands and painted them for her to make sure they were even.  If you have an older kiddo, you can let them slap their hand into the paint.
  • Then I placed them on the white computer paper.  Again, with an older kiddo they can do the hand-on-paper placement, too.
  • Let the cute caterpillar dry!
  • Give the kiddo a blank piece of paper and give them some FREE REIGN!

Supplies Needed:

  • Yellow paint
  • Green paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Black beads
  • Paper
  • Green construction paper
  • Precious hands

How To Create Your Sunflower:

  • Same first two instructions as above 🙂
  • Paint your child’s palm yellow and either stamp it for them or have them stamp it 4 times in a circle at the top of your paper
  • Paint a green stem
  • Cut 2 leaves out of your green construction paper and glue them to the stem
  • When the yellow paint is dry, put some glue in the middle of the sunflower in a circular shape and sprinkle with black beads
  • Allow to dry

We made a sunflower for the birthday girl and here’s the finished product…not too shabby!

Enjoy!
