Oldie but a goodie of C and her Nana

So, my mom got in town last night (hense the shorter than normal blog for a Friday) and the minute she walked in the door it was if I didn’t have a kid.  I was completely “off duty” as I like to say….glass of wine–check, trashy reality tv–check, dishes still dirty–check!

Last time we were in Mcallen visiting her, I gave her the stink-eye when she asked me to take care of my child…how dare she, right? We are there visiting her so that SHE can spend some quality time with her granddaughter, not so I can do the same damn thing I do every weekend…

Well, a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine (ahem my oh so fab co-founder) called sharing a similar story of how she kind of “turns off” mommy-duty when the in-laws walk in the door. Her hubby thought it was a little odd that she gets “lazy” when the in-laws around and she simply didn’t understand why her hubs was up in arms about it.  She called me to get my opinion on the topic and I totally helped her case (BFF win!)

WHEN GRANDPARENTS ARE IN TOWN, ALLOW YOURSELF TO TAKE A BREAK! These people love your babies just as much as you do and have a STRONG desire to love and spoil the crapola out of them…let them!  Schedule a pedicure, go to a movie (by yourself) or go drink a little–it’s okay…OH YEA…spend alone time with your husband 🙂

What do you think?  Hand off the offspring to the grandparents upon arrival or let them relax, too?

Speaking of relax…that’s what I’m off to do because my mama is in town to watch my babe.
