Bucket ListIt’s summer time in the city and if you are anything like me, you are always looking for something fun to either a.) beat the heat or b.) get your crazy brood out of the house because they are bouncing off the walls!

We love to post about fun things to do in Austin, and there is certainly no shortage.  So, without further adieu, I have compiled a handful of fun things to do in Austin – an Austin Summer Bucket List for 2013:

iFly

A few months ago, Katie blogged about her experience at iFly, and ever since then, I have the itch to go!  Summer vacation is all about trying new things and facing fears…and since I would NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS actually sky-dive, I think this would be a pretty awesome rush!  And, they have a Kid’s Club too – so check that out!

Lake Travis Zip Line Adventures

This has been on my bucket list for a L-O-N-G time!  I cannot wait to give this a try – it’s just across the lake from where we live, and looks like a total blast.  Plus, kids zip for FREE through July 31st (with paid adult)!

Top Notch Summer Movie Nights

Another great dinner and a movie option during the summer!  The line up is off the hook – some of my very favorite, classic movies. “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, “Little Shop of Horrors”, and ending the summer with “Grease”?!!  Yes, please!!!  And, of course, you must replace your usual popcorn with Top Notch’s world famous onion rings.

Blues on the Green

KGSR’s Blues on the Green is a total Austin experience.  With the skyline as your backdrop, pack a picnic, bring a blanket or some chairs and enjoy some great music with the kiddos on the lawn of beautiful Zilker Park.  The upcoming schedule looks awesome!

Unplugged at the Grove

Another KGSR music event  is held at Shady Grove on Barton Springs Rd.  Get there early, enjoy a Hippie Chick Sandwich (or my favorite – the Noodle Salad) and  Shady Thang Margarita, and relax.  One of my best “Austin” memories of being pregnant with Hudson, was attending Unplugged and seeing Ray Wylie Hubbard, at 9 months pregnant!  It continues to be a fave of ours.

Shore Club Volente Beach Water Park

Not in the mood to drive to New Braunfels to hit up Schlitterbaun?  Have no fear – there is a fun waterpark in Austin!  Head over to Volente Beach Waterpark and soak up some sun while the kiddos have a blast on the rides and activites that are perfect for the kids.

Natural Springs

Austin and the surrounding areas are full of natural beauty and amazing places to swim during the hottest of days.  AMB contributors have mentioned them here and here as well!  My hubby and I love to visit them – in fact, we celebrated our 5th Anniversary with a Day Trip to visit as many as we could!  We did a pretty good job hitting Hamilton Pool, Jacob’s Well, Barton Springs, Krause Springs & Blue Hole all in a day.

Get a Sno Cone at Sno Beach

And no summer list would be complete without a spot to get a cool treat!  Head over to Sno Beach and get a delicious Sno Cone – with tons of flavors to choose from, it’s no wonder that it’s been a favorite in Austin since 1993.

So – there you have it – a small handful of the many, many things that our great city has to offer.  These are the spots that are on MY list this summer…what is on yours?
