Every once and a while we see a certain blog that has received a lot of love (or pins) and think it’s time to reshare that bad boy.  Today we’re resharing Vanessa’s DIY carpet cleaner that got her toddler-marked carpets looking better than before.

Screen Shot 2013-03-10 at 9.27.16 PMOn Sunday, March 10 I spent the better part of the day on my butt and on the couch. Something about the Sunday before Spring Break that makes me feel like it’s okay to be lazy…like REAL lazy. Well, during my laziness I did what any girl would do and I spent approximately 3 hours on Pinterest. I found big girl room ideas, millions of uses for mason jars and the miracle recipe for today’s blog..CARPET CLEANER.

I’m not sure about you, but my kid can’t keep her food/drink/snack/fill-in-the-blank anywhere near her bowl/cup/plate/hands. Well, this has caused our apartment carpet to be what some would classify as disgusting. In fact, we don’t even let people over.

The first spill happened early on so we sort of chalked it up to a “Whatever, we won’t get our deposit back situation” and went about our messy-carpeted house business. HOWEVER when I stumbled across this “Pin” curiosity got the best of me and I thought why not give it a whirl.

Here is what you need: (1) spray bottle, (1) cup of ammonia, (1) cup of water, (1) towel <it recommends white but I think any light color would work> and (1) iron. We didn’t have any ammonia so we made an investment of $0.99 to see this project come to fruition.

Step 1: Combine the water and ammonia into the spray bottle.

Step 2: Give it an ole fashion swirl to mix it up.

Step 3: Spray the stained area

Step 4: Lay the towel over sprayed area

Step 5: Run your iron over the towel (obviously make sure the iron is on)

Step 6: Pick up the towel and take a looksie. If it appears there is more stain to be removed, used the towel to rub some of that stain out and then repeat the steps.

I’m not kidding that this stuff works miracles.
