Baby Shower IdeasWhat do you do when your best friend loathes baby showers, but is pregnant and wants a baby shower?

I found myself in this predicament a couple months ago when my BFF decided she did want a baby shower after all. Here’s my attempt at a “non-baby” baby shower!

First up, ask the soon to be daddy to write a letter to the baby. This is such a cute idea and if executed properly, will be cherished forever. I recommend giving the dad some ideas. Maybe a top 10 list of things he wants to teach his son/daughter, or things to remember when being a lady/gentleman, etc. I think soon-to-be dads struggle with what to say to a fetus.

Centerpiece Decoration Idea:

Robot Airplane Diaper CakeA baby shower wouldn’t be a baby shower without a diaper cake so I reached out to Monica with One in the Oven Diaper Cakes. She created this adorable custom diaper cake airplane. The mom to be sent me her baby room ideas and her plan is to wall paper one wall with robots, hence where the robots were born. Monica purchased custom robot and chevron blankets to wrap the wings and the body of the plane. I found this adorable crochet robot through Etsy. These pics seriously don’t do this plane justice. It was almost 2′ long and the centerpiece of the shower! It was perfect!!!

Food, Dessert, & Beverage Ideas:

Baby Shower Food IdeasWe had 5 hostess’ so everyone brought a dish…sandwiches, cheese, crackers, deviled eggs, hummus, etc. We had entirely too much food. I sent some non-baby cupcake ideas to one of the hostess’, which came from Austin’s own the Cupcake Wars winner, Sugar Mama’s Bakery. They were delicious!

We had water {lame, but some people were pregnant…duh}, mimosas as well as another alcoholic drink that was featured on our Easy Summer Cocktails blog. Everyone loved this drink and it was BEYOND easy to make!

Party Favors & Guest Sign In Ideas:

DIY ChalkboardsIt’s no secret that I love me some chalkboards. They are super cute, easy to convey messages, and were perfect for the baby shower! For the party favors, we purchased 4 oz mason jars, sprayed chalkboard paint on the lids, and finished off with jute and thank you messages. I made a super easy DIY brown sugar/vanilla bath scrub and called it a day! These cost less than $2 per favor.

Mommy Souvenir: For the mom-to-be to take home, I had everyone write a sweet message for the baby on a Jenga block. I thought this was a cuter idea than everyone making a onesie or writing a message on a diaper. My BFF is much more likely to hold onto this game for years to come and her little boy can play with it forever and will be able to look back and read all the sweet messages!

Name Reveal Idea:

Baby Name Reveal GameMy BFF hadn’t told anyone the name so the plan was to have a name reveal at the shower. I made a super easy burlap name flag. On one side I painted the baby’s last name and on the other side I had the first name. For the first half of the shower we had the last name up on the mantle. On 6 of the party favors I wrote a letter on the chalkboard. We handed out all of the favors (which ensured everyone went home with their favor). We then asked everyone to look at their favor and if it featured a letter to come to the front. We then asked those 6 people to put together the name based on the letters we had given them. This was an extremely easy game and went super quick. It helped that there were only 6 letters. Here’s the name!

Door Wreath Idea:

DIY Door WreathThis door wreath is my favorite thing that I made for the shower. Each flower was hand-cut from felt, hand-twisted, and hot glued with love. There’s close to 150 flowers on the wreath. The jute “S” was super easy to make and represents the family’s last name. I wanted something for my BFF to be able to take home and use forever. This was hanging outside on the front door and was the first thing the mom-to-be and the guests saw when they walked up… it really set the tone for the shower. All she has to do is cut off the adorable little baby booties and this wreath can be used for years to come! I’m sure at some point I will do a DIY for this creation, but for today it’s just for looks 🙂

I hope my best friend loved her shower as much as I loved planning it. I did my best at keeping it non-baby, but still celebrating the little boy that is about to make his entrance into this world in November.

So what do you think? Stroke my ego, please…
