In September, Kristen gave us some great Staycation ideas. Now that we’re in the midst of winter {did everybody survive snowpocalypse?}, the moms at Austin Moms Blog thought it would be fun to give some ideas for staycations while it might be freezing OR sunny and warm outside…you know, just a typical Austin January day.
1. Family Friendly
One of my besties, who happens to be Kristen’s SIL, went with her family a few weeks back to the Renaissance Hotel in the Arboretum. I thought this was such a great idea! The hotel has an indoor pool, you are walking distance to shopping, food, ice cream, park areas and more. You’re also not far from the new Thinkery and several movie theatres. Something for everyone in the family!
2. Romantic
I might be in the minority here, but romantic is just about ANY time I have with my husband ALONE. Time together is a hot commodity in our home these days. {grin} A perfect evening with my husband would be dinner and a show of some sort {ACL Live, something at the Paramont, Esther’s Follies, Alamo Drafthouse…just a few ideas}, and sleeping late. I would love to stay at the Westin downtown and then be able to have breakfast at Austin Java across the street.
3. Girlfriends ONLY
A few years ago during a random February snow storm, I went with a friend {just realizing it’s the same friend who went to the Renaissance, hi Dena!}, her sister and my sister to stay in Fredericksburg overnight. We ate, we drank {except my sis who was preggers}, we shopped, we hung out in the hot tub, we read, we watched TV, we enjoyed having no one to take care of but ourselves. IT.WAS.GLORIOUS.
