You guys know that I am not a Native Austin-ite, however, I absolutely LOVE it here.  So, naturally, when the question was thrown out: If you had 3 days off to spend in Austin, what would you do? I jumped at the chance!  I am so hoping that one of these days I can have a 3 day “Stay-Cation” right here to enjoy some of my favorite spots!

So, here is my perfect 3-day Austin Jaunt.  And, even though we usually blog about stuff to do with our families and kids, I am not including them in all 3 days.  Momma deserves to have some me-time too!

Day One (Friday):

Start out with some me-time at Waterstone Salon, having Sam work her magic on my sorely neglected head of hair.  Might as well start my days off looking fine!  After my tresses are tousled, I’d head to The Domain for some retail therapy and a little lunch.  Possibly grab some caffeine and a Napa Roll with peanut sauce at The Steeping Room, then head into H&M, Anthropologie, and Madewell for hours of shopping sans kids.  Bliss!  After I’ve outfitted myself in something fabulous, I’d head over to Lamar for an early dinner with the hubs at Uchiko.  I die for their onion rings and fried eggplant.  After a delish dinner, I’d probably bid my husband adieu, send him home to take care of the kids, and head downtown for Girls night!  Drinks, and then kick it old school and end up either at Pete’s Piano Bar, where I may or may not jump up and start singing with them, or Esther’s Follies.

Day OneDay Two (Saturday):

After my super fun Friday, I’d be ready to hang out outside, so after donning my requisite Chaco’s, tank top and comfy skirt,  I’d meet up with Jared for a good breakfast at The Omelettry and see if we could re-create our 5 Year Anniversary Day Trip to the local natural swimming holes.  This is such a fun day-trip, I totally recommend it.  We start out at Krause Springs, followed by Hamilton Poole, Jacob’s Well, Blue Hole and then wrap it up at Barton Springs.  It’s a lot in a day, but so much fun!  Since we’d already be downtown, after changing clothes, we’d probably grab dinner either at Home Slice Pizza on Congress, or forgo dinner and devour a doughnut from the Gourdoughs food trailer on our way to see an ACL Live taping.  (Hey – this is my dream day, right?)  Realistically?  We’d probably catch a show at The Continental Club.

PicMonkey CollageDay Three (Sunday):

I’d be jonesing for my kids at this point, so they have to be included in my Sunday!  We’d start out with brunch at Takoba, then head to Peter Pan Mini Golf to let Hudson play 18 holes.  After that, we’d venture North and hit up The Thinkery.  We got to check it out during a preview day before it opened and it was AMAZING!  We seriously can’t wait to go again and again!  (Have you seen that Light Room?  And what about the Water Room?  So. Cool.)  After the kids were museum’d out, we’d grab some dinner to go, perhaps a Noodle Salad and Hippie Sandwich from Shady Grove, and have a picnic at Zilker Park, watching the sunset.

DayThree
(Update: Just received word that Umami Mia closed it’s doors on Feb 17th. Super bummed – they were awesome!)

So, I don’t know about you – but that sounds like a pretty much perfect weekend!  So much so, I’m going to make it a goal in 2014 to make it happen.  Anyone want to join me?!

What would be included in your perfect 3-day weekend in the ATX?
