I took my bedroom back a few years ago. Best decision ever!  It was over run by dogs kid’s stuff and clutter.  I didn’t enjoy my bedroom  and although it takes all of 30 seconds for me to fall asleep, I wanted to feel relaxed in my bedroom.

Austin Moms Blog, Loni Meyers, Master Bedroom The room started with ripping the carpet up, which we replaced with stained concrete.  The stained concrete is so easy to keep clean and I wish I had it throughout my home. Next on my list was paint, and I am passi0nate about paint! It is not uncommon for me to select from multiple samples and several stores to select a color.  In my bedroom, I decided to paint an abstract cherry blossom tree, which symbolizes the beauty and fragility of life.  Our bedding is from Pottery Barn a few years ago.  I can’t afford decorating my entire home in Pottery Barn, and typically I like to achieve the look for less, so I shop their outlet in San Marcos when possible.  The bed is the centerpiece of our bedroom, I believe it ties the room together, so I wanted to splurge.  We banned dogs from sleeping in our bed, kids from bringing their toys in our room and it’s now the easiest room in the house to clean. I don’t store anything under our bed, just one of the feng shui rules I follow.

I have a grand plan to complete the artwork over our bed, however, I want to make it all, so it will take some time.  I made the wreath that hangs over the bed by covering a straw wreath with acorns (attached with hot glue)  and a coat of spray paint to match our room.  If you plan on doing this, you’ll find plenty of acorns in Austin! It’s a great activity to get the kids involved in. Prior to assembly, bake the acorns at 200 degrees for 20 minutes, this will kill any living organisms that are making the acorn their home.

There is one thing that I don’t love about my bedroom. The BIG TV. At least I can’t see it when I look into our bedroom.  It’s a compromise. My husband likes to watch TV before bed, I’m usually fast asleep by then!

Thanks for taking a peek inside my sanctuary. With three children and 2 dogs running around, it is the quietest corner in our house. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me!

So, tell me, what are your thoughts on TVs in the bedroom?
