If you’re like most moms, your child’s birthday seems to creep up faster every year. They keep getting older and yet you haven’t aged a day, right?

Well, to help you out, we’ve compiled a list of the best places to host your child’s birthday party, entertainment for the party, and given some fun ideas for party themes!

A Guide to Birthday Parties in Austin

Birthday Party Venues:

The Little Yoga House: Did we say yoga party? Yes we did! Spend your birthday, special event, baby shower and more at our magical yoga studio created JUST for kids! We offer a variety of party packages to choose from OR you can work with one of our party specialists to build your own custom party. You tell us the theme and we will create the yoga adventure of your dreams. A yoga party is the perfect way to celebrate in a SUPER fun and healthy way!!

Give a birthday party that will always be remembered with Races2U®. Our digital cars can be programmed for almost any skill level, from kindergarteners to tweens to teenagers to adults. Young children enjoy watching the cars go around the track, with all the bright colors and sounds, and cars can be kept slow enough that they stay on the track most of the time, but the occasional accident adds to the entertainment! Participants who are not driving during a particular race can get involved as “pit crew”, putting cars back together and back on track, and of course, it wouldn’t be racing without spectators, either. Watching the races is almost as enjoyable as driving, and a 6 car setup can easily keep up to 18 kids or adults occupied and interested for hours. Family friendly, non violent, active, and no mess to clean up – what more could you ask for in birthday party entertainment?

Ashley’s Playhouse is the perfect place to host your child’s next birthday party! Kids love their magical facility, complete with a two-story treehouse, acting stage, cinema room and outdoor play space. For $250, you will receive 2 hours of full access to the facility, 2 caregivers to assist before, during and after the event, plus a gift for the birthday child! You are welcome to order Double Dave’s Pizza at a discounted rate, or bring your own food/snacks and birthday cake. Ashley’s Playhouse staff will help with the serving and take care of all the clean up! Dates are first come, first serve, so reserve your spot today!

Themes:

  • Pirates & Princesses– Ask guests to come dressed as pirates, mermaids, or princesses. Send the kiddos on a treasure hunt, have them walk the plank into a ball pit or baby pool blindfolded, and send them home with a bag o’ booty!
  • Superheroes
  • Frozen– Pinterest is jam packed with Frozen birthday party ideas. I hosted one for my niece with marshmallow Olavs, blue jello cubes, rock candy, and powder donuts. We sang Frozen songs and took 4000 pics of her in a blue tutu.Frozen Birthday Party
  • Camping– ask the kids to come dressed in their best outdoor gear, take a hike, collect items from nature, do leaf rubbing or paint rocks, make s’mores, sing songs by the fire, read Arthur Goes Camping, and have sleeping back sack races.
  • Around the World– tell guests to come dressed in attire from another country, possibly their family’s heritage and serve unique dishes and drinks from around the world.
  • Rockstars– play KidzBop, sing karaoke, dress like rockstars and dance!
  • Pancakes & PJs– guests (and their parents) come dressed in PJs, serve pancakes and play games. Let kids top their pancakes with chocolate chips, whip cream, or fruit toppings for added fun!
  • Willy Wonka– guests are invite via a golden ticket and enter a candy covered home to sing songs from the movie and play candy themed games. Pinterest has you covered here!
  • Safari- dress like a wild adventure seeker and ask kids to bring their favorite stuffed animal from the jungle. Go on a hunting safari in the backyard searching for wild things and eat your catch (aka, mom picks up chicken strips from HEB, but tells the kids it’s cheetah, lol).
  • Board Games– ask guests to bring a favorite board game and set up tournaments. This is recommended for school aged kiddos who know the games.
  • Old Ladies & Gents– how funny would it be to have a party for your five year old where the kids dressed like they were 95! You’ve got to have guests with a sense of humor for this one.
  • Beach Party– rent slip n’ slides or baby pools, grab beach balls, hula hoops, jump ropes, and let the kids play while dancing to Beach Boys and surfin’ songs.
  • 3 Ring Circus Party– You can rent performers for a party like this at 3 Ring Service. I’ve used them before and they’re great!
  • Farmhouse Fun– again, check Pinterest! Rent a petting zoo from tinytailstoyou.com, eat pigs in a blanket and dress like farmers. Singing Old Macdonald is a must!
  • Wet n Wild– get out the slip n slide, water hoses, baby pools, water guns, and sprinklers! Or, visit a splash pad.
  • Glow Parties– if your child’s birthday is late fall or winter and it’s dark around 6:00, host a glow party and decorate with blacklights, neon, and glow in the dark jewelry. The kids will love it!
  • Brittish Tea Party– channel your inner Kate Middleton and host a party where the guests come dressed to the nines, eat scones & cookies, and drink tea (apple juice) with their friends before playing old fashioned games like red rover and musical chair.

We know birthday party planning can be a daunting task, but hopefully this list helps your planning!

What have you done for your kiddos parties?!

  1. This is such a great list of ideas and resources to use to plan a child’s birthday party. One of my favorite birthday parties was the one I had at a local pottery painting place. My friends and I had so much fun being creative. Thanks for posting this list!
