1) Pumpkin Punch Bowl

Supplies:Pumpkin-Bowl-Austin-Moms-Blog-e1411926487191

  • Pumpkin (large)
  • Carving knife or butcher knife
  • Stainless steel or plastic bowl
  • Spoon

Step 1: Cut the top off the pumpkin and widen the opening to fit the size of your bowl

Step 2: Scoop the goop and discard (but save the seeds for roasting!)

Step 3: Place your bowl inside or continue carving it to fit

Step 4: Fill the bowl with ice and serve juice boxes, beers, sodas, or water bottles at a block party, Halloween party, or birthday party

Alternative Options?

  • Fill the bowl with candy for Halloween night
  • Paint the pumpkin your color of choice
  • Cover the pumpkin with decorative duct tape from top to bottom, matching the edges for a really wild design

2) Franken-sticks

Supplies:

  • Popcicle sticks
  • Black and fluorescent green paint
  • Black paint pen (optional)
  • Paint brushes and tray
  • Hot glue or wood glue
  • Cardboard
  • Googly eyes

Step 1: Cut the cardboard to size of the sticks (I used a mac & cheese box)

Step 2: Line the sicks up and hot glue to the cardboard

Step 3: Paint the sticks 3/4 green, 1/4 black (wait until green dries before you paint black)

Step 4: Using the paint pen (or angled paintbrush), create the inverted triangles of Frankenstein’s hair

Step 5: Draw the smile, nose, and scars with paint pen or fine tipped paint brush

Step 6: Attach googly eyes using hot glue

Be sure to write your kiddo’s name on the back and the date the project was created. Add the pictures to your One Day app or scrapbook. You can also attach a string to hang this on a hook or a doorknob, gift to a teacher, or even frame it in a shadowbox to decorate for the season for years to come.

3) Footprint Ghosts Painting

Supplies:Footprint Ghost, Austin Moms Blog

  • Black canvas or black cardstock (I prefer canvas because it lasts longer and hangs easily for seasonal decor)
  • White washable tempura paint
  • White paint pen or white sharpie
  • Large, or wide brimmed, paint brush
  • Googly eyes

Step 1: Paint your child’s feet white while sitting on the floor outside or in a chair (over newspaper or tarp, lol)

Step 2: Gently press each foot onto the canvas

Step 3: Turn the canvas over so the toes point down. Outline the foot shape with the paint pen or sharpie. Write child’s name on it (optional)

Step 4: Press the googly eyes onto the ghosts

Options?

You can choose to decorate around the ghosts with tombstones, fencing, or paint pumpkins if you choose, but I preferred the clean, simple look.

4) Mini Apple Pies

Supplies:

  • Crescent rolls
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar
  • Butter
  • Apples (peeled and sliced)
  • Pie plate or cookie sheet

Step 1: Carefully unroll the entire sheet of crescent rolls onto a clean surface

Step 2: Paint both sides with melted butter.

Step 3: Sprinkle a mixture of cinnamon and sugar onto both sides of the crescent rolls.

Step 4: Place a peeled, sliced apple piece onto each section of the crescent rolls and gently roll up individual rolls.

Step 5: Place on your cookie sheet or pie plate and bake according to the directions on the crescent roll package.

Step 6: Serve with a slice of cheese as an afterschool snack or serve with ice cream and caramel sauce for dessert!

All of these “Make it Monday” ideas can be done with your child, but be sure to carefully supervise when using the hot glue gun and please don’t allow kiddos to carve the pumpkin (hopefully that goes without saying, lol). Have fun, mamas!

Thank you Good Day Austin for your support!
