I am a self-proclaimed coffee shop connoisseur. Whether I am working, meeting a fellow mommy or just taking my little one on a mom date, I am regularly visiting coffee shops. After a lot of trial and error, I have come to learn what’s important to me in a kid-friendly coffee date location and which local Austin coffee shops I like the best. I’ve decided that it’s about time I make my coffee shop list official and let you mama’s in on the fun! All of the locations listed here have beverage options for children, an area for the kids to play and are welcoming of the noise that our adorable little monsters may bring.

Austin, Texas is a haven for independent craftsmen, live music, and artisan coffee shops! Here is a list of our top 5 kid-friendly coffee shops in the ATX.

Radio Coffee & Beer 4204 Manchaca Rd, Austin, TX 78704 (512) 394-7844 6:30 AM – midnight

We love Radio Coffee! On any given Saturday or Sunday morning, you will find the lawn packed with families and for good reason! This music-loving venue gives your little ones something to tap their toes to and plenty of space to burn off some energy. Radio Coffee offers Stumptown espresso based drinks and a great variety of craft beers for the adults. The little ones can sip on Juiceland beverages or hot chocolate. If you get hungry you can head on over to the Veracruz taco trailer on location and grab a bite to eat. It is always a good idea to check out Radio Coffee & Beer Event Calendar as they have many kid-friendly events such as Bluegrass Night on Mondays. As this is a popular location, parking can be hit or miss.

Stouthaus Coffee Pub 4715 S. Lamar Blvd #102 Sunset Valley, TX (512) 721-0030

Stouthaus is my go-to coffee shop for work and for play. Their two giant parking lots ensure that you always get a great spot without having to worry about the hassle of downtown parking. The environment is welcoming, offering huge wooden tables both indoors and outdoors. Stouthaus keeps it local, serving Cuvee espresso’s and iced coffee, Kosmic Kombucha, and local craft beers like Hops & Grain. The Baristas are extremely knowledgeable and always make GREAT recommendations if you are in the mood to try something new! Kid-friendly drink options include Italian sodas, root beer on tap (on tap!!), and hot chocolate. If you get hungry Stouthaus offers fresh fruit, a variety of deliciously made baked goods (the blueberry scone will ruin your experience for all other blueberry scones), and breakfast tacos. You can also walk down the hall to St. Philip grab some grub, and wash it down with a beer at one of the huge, locally made picnic tables out front. Overall, Stouthaus is a great coffee shop that really showcases the local Austin Coffee experience.

Cenote 1010 E. Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78702 (512) 524-1311

Cenote‘s historical house-converted-to-cafe was built in 1887 and has been renovated with a hip East Austin vibe. They keep it local and support Texas farmers with a full menu of food sourced from well-known names like Johnson’s Backyard Garden, Coyote Creek Farm, and Flying Pig Provisions. Cenote’s uses coffee from Wild Gift, Four Barrel, and Casa Brasil. Cenote also boasts an impressive list of wine, tea, and craft beer. There are sodas, water, or milk for the kids. Cenote has a nice, fenced-in outdoor space so that the kids can run around.

Cups & Cones 2900 N Quinlan Park Rd, Austin, TX 78732 (512) 266-2444

Cups & Cones is the mecca of kid-friendly coffee shops! Their bright and fun shop has a designated children’s area and hosts a variety of events,  ranging from crochet lessons to story time. Parent’s can partake in coffee by Austin Java while little ones can have a variety of juices, shakes, and smoothies. Did we mention they are now serving Amy’s Ice Cream?! For the outdoor lovers, John Simpson park is about half a mile away.

Mozart’s Coffee Roasters 3825 Lake Austin Blvd, Austin, TX 78703 (512) 477-2900

Mozart‘s is nestled in the hills of Lake Austin and their outdoor patio offers a great view of the water. This coffee shop has a European-inspired atmosphere. Their coffee beans are roasted on site. Mozart’s also boasts an on-site bakery and has tons of baked good options. Sitting outside at Mozart’s is a great way to get some fresh air. Also, if the tots are in for a little walk, there are a couple of public docks just a short walk down the road.

Where’s your favorite coffee spot?
