Traveling with kids. Ugh. Just thinking about it conjures up an array of mixed emotions.
Before I had children, the thought of traveling with kids sounded amazing! We’d be frolicking on the beach in Hawaii or skiing in Aspen and would plan trips on a whim… traveling as a family multiple times a year.
Of course this was all just a dream… a fantasy of sorts.
Anyone who has traveled with kiddos in tow, knows that the travel experience is anything but amazing. We are a family of 4 soon to be 5… 2 boys with a baby girl on the way and even with a full-size SUV, we are literally stuffed to the brim when it comes to travel. I honestly can’t even imagine flying anywhere during this season of parenthood. And even driving can be a major nightmare. We always have a gazillion bags, the sound machine, car seats, pack and play, toys, the list goes on and on and on and on and ON!!!!
Whether we are traveling 2 hours or 12 hours, the “stuff” we require as a family doesn’t change. And it doesn’t matter if we are gone for 3 days or 3 weeks, it’s really quite remarkable at the amount of clothing articles we need regardless.
So our family honestly doesn’t travel unless we absolutely have to. Ever. Just ask my mother-in-law… we never go to see them in Arkansas and there’s really no end in site on that subject. Our dreams of traveling anywhere let alone Maui or Aspen have slowly slipped away.
