Hi there! Nice to meet you by way of this amazing community called Austin Moms Blog. So honored to be here among all of these talented, beautiful women.

I’m Heather, lover of queso and a good breakfast taco. I am proud to say I grew up in this beautiful city, spending a memory filled four years down the road at Texas State (Go Bobcats!), moving back in 2002. I currently live in Tarrytown with my husband, two kiddos, and sweet lab puppy, Mia.

Since moving back I’ve been focused on quite a few things, including growing my career, my family, and myself. I currently hold a position as Vice President of Client Services at a software company here in town, my days are never boring and I’m grateful for that. I won’t use the label “working mama” much, as I know we’re all working very hard at whatever we do, but I do hope to bring some perspectives to this blog around navigating the different waters.

I’ve been with my husband, Dom, for almost 10 years – he is an Italian from New York who is one of my biggest supporters in everything I do. He’s incredibly loyal, loving, opinionated, and 100% there for me every step of the way. From giving me negotiating advice to giving the kids their baths (almost every night!), he is my go to place during the best and worst times. He’s closed the door when he knew I just needed to sleep in, poured a glass of wine before I can even ask, and takes the lead in our family as resident travel agent, (we love to travel)!

The single best thing I have done with my life so far is become a mom to my kiddos, Brooklyn (7), and Ty (5). They have taught me fear I never knew, love I never felt, and how important it is to live in the present. I absolutely loved having babies, but I have to say to all mama’s out there that it just gets better year after year. To the expecting and newer mama’s, soak every minute of it up. To the mama’s that feel like it’s going by too fast, it is, but it continues to be just as rewarding, at times frustrating, but all the more beautiful as they continue to grow.

My current aspirations beyond being a good wife, mom, sister, daughter, and friend – travel as much as possible, own way too many shoes, and remain open to the idea that there is so much more to learn. I love cooking, all types of music, yoga, documentaries, football, people that make me laugh, an adult beverage, good views, good books, and debating a controversial topic every now and then.

I’m not a fan of people that believe anything they hear or read, clapping in movie theaters, raw onions, lettuce on sandwiches, bad drivers, ignorance, and horror movies.

Thanks for having me here, I look forward to being part of this community. I read a lot of books written by strong women, one of my favorites is Brene’ Brown. Her book “Daring Greatly” is a true inspiration to me as it reminds me the value of letting go of control and being vulnerable. In that she says “Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity. It is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. If we want greater clarity in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path.”

Here is to that journey, friends. Cheers!
