Happy National Wine Day to all you wine-loving, wine-deserving mamas!

I’ll admit it. I savor the moments when I can lounge on the couch, turn on some trashy tv (cough, cough, Real Housewives) and drink a glass of wine… or two… or… well, you get the gist. I’ve actually managed to escape to solitude at this very moment, with a glass of wine in hand, to write this very post – a rarity indeed.

With a new baby in the house, you might easily assume why exactly these moments are so rare. And while you’re right, in some regard, my own busy lifestyle is still often to blame. (Ugh, busy, I hate that word. Don’t you?) See, I used to be able to finish my self-inflicted to-do’s, stay up late to watch said trashy tv, drink as many glasses of wine as I wanted, and then power through the next day with maybe even a nap at lunch or after work. But now things look just a little different.

Now I wake up about as early as I can physically muster, try to pump and squeeze in some work before the kiddo wakes up, feed the kiddo, make the commute to daycare, plow through work, and get off no later than 4:38pm to barely make 5 o’clock pickup time. Once back at home, insert things like laundry, bottle washing, house cleaning, playtime, bath time and whatever else before 10:00pm is glaring me in the face and that bottle of wine is untouched. Rinse. And. Repeat.

I don’t really know how I survived life before baby. I sometimes wonder how I survive life now. And I definitely wonder how I can survive this same life with more babies.

But I do know one thing: Sometimes I wind down for the day, and I just want a glass of wine… or two… or three. And you know what? Tonight I think I’ll do just that.

I love my life. I love my baby. I love my wine!
