It’s fall y’all! The weather is finally starting to cool off (hopefully) and it’s time to get outside. There are so many things to do in Austin this Fall — it may be hard to decide. Check out this list and plan some great fall days. This list is organized for your convenience by month. Scroll to the bottom to see ideas that aren’t date specific. Have a great fall!

SEPTEMBER

  1. Grab three buddies and join in the Zilker Relays. There is also a kid’s relay Sept. 8
  2. See Green Day in concert Sept. 8
  3. Ballet Austin presents Romeo and Juliet at the Long Center Sept. 15-17

OCTOBER

  3. Have a scary movie marathon

  6. Stream a Halloween music station
  7. Go to a haunted house like House of Torment 
  8. Do a ghost tour of Austin
  9. Visit the ghost town in Manor 
  10. Take in some chalk art at the Round Rock Chalk Walk Oct. 6-7 
  11. Take your teen to Texas Teen Book Festival Oct. 7 
  12. Watch Star Wars A New Hope live with an orchestra at the Long Center Oct. 11-12 
  13. Take in a lot of live music at ACL Oct. 6-8 and 13-15 
  14. Stay in and watch the Free Form channel’s 13 Nights of Halloween 
  15. Get a babysitter and head to the Austin Vampire Ball 
  16. Listen to the Austin Symphony as they play Fantasia Live Oct. 20 
  17. Eat the best chili at the Pflugerville Chili Fest Oct. 21 
  18. Take your dog to Dogtoberfest at The Domain Oct. 21

  4. Pick up a good book for the Texas Book Festival Nov. 4-5

  6. Mmmm the Texas Monthly BBQ festival is Nov. 5 
  7. Run in the annual Turkey Trot Nov. 23 
  8. Volunteer at a soup kitchen for Thanksgiving
  9. Take the kids and join in at the Round Rock Reindeer Run through the Christmas lights Nov. 26 

THINGS TO DO ALL THROUGH THE FALL

  1. Paddle board or kayak on Lady Bird Lake
  2. Drink all the pumpkin spice
  3. Visit a family friendly brewery like Jester King
  4. Go on a scenic drive to see the fall foliage. I recommend the drive out to Lakeway and Marble Falls.
  5. Obviously it’s not fall in Austin without going to a Longhorn game and tailgate 
  6. Go see a local high school football game if your little ones are too little for a Longhorn game
  7. Check out the Barton Creek greenbelt and enjoy the cooler weather
  8. Catch a classic movie at Blue Starlite Drive-in
  9. Go for a ride on the Austin Steam Train 
  10. Go Horseback riding
  11. Take the family camping in the hill country 
  12. Do a fall family photo session
  13. Jump in a pile of freshly raked leaves
  14. Make an awesome fall craft 
  15. Take a day hike 
  16. Make a delicious chilli in the slow cooker 
  17. Make homemade apple pie 
  18. Make a delicious pumpkin dish 
  19. Make butternut squash soup 
  20. Crochet a scarf 
  21. Learn to tie your newly made scarf 
  22. Go for a bike ride
  23. Make a pumpkin dispenser for your fall gatherings
  24. Paint your little one’s faces or paint pumpkins
  25. Follow a Texas tradition and make some mums for your little ones to wear to a football game
