Runners, dust off your crusader capes and grab your superhero masks, as Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa hosts one of the most epic 5K fun runs in Austin this year. Benefitting Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas, the Superhero Fun Run will allow participants to come together to make an impact – one stride at a time. Leading the race will be 7-year-old cancer survivor and Wish Kid, Super Kooper (Hernandez). Since beating cancer, Super Kooper and his family have made it their mission to give back and help families with kids fighting cancer.
The power-packed race will take place Sunday, Aug. 27, from 7 to 9 a.m. and participants are encouraged to don their favorite superhero costumes while running or walking the 5K. All participants can take part in pre- and post-race festivities in the resort Pavilion and will receive a superhero T-shirt and finisher medal to take home. Taking place along the cart path of the Fazio Foothills champion golf course, participants can take in the sheer beauty of the resort’s signature track, which offers healthy elevation changes and scenic views of cliffs, creeks and waterfalls.
“The Superhero Fun Run is a great way for us to rally resort guests, Country Club members, associates and locals alike for a great cause,” said David Jurcak, managing director at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa. “We’re proud of our longstanding partnership with Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas, and I, for one, will be out there fully supporting the cause with a costume for the ages.”
Twenty percent of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas.
