Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate all of the amazing women that spent months watching their body change with stretch marks and extra weight, spent countless hours in labor, who were forced into sleepless nights, dealt with grotesque diapers with poo you didn’t know existed, worried about every noise imaginable, worried about every second of passing silence, traded in their 2 door car for a 4 door, drives a mini van, has done excessive amounts of laundry, patched up boo boos with colorful band aids, turned in their Good Morning America for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and for all of the mothers that have sacrificed that long lost thing we call “self” for our amazing bundles of joy we call “kids”.

Mother’s Day wasn’t established as a national holiday until 1914… think about that… our great great grandmothers were never celebrated as the wonderful women they were… the ovary and egg holders to your mother’s mother, your mother, you, and now your wonderful baby! Even if you adopted you still have a woman to give thanks to.

So as we give thanks to the women in our lives that made us who we are, we also thought it was appropriate to be slightly selfish for the weekend and share what our hopes are for Mother’s Day 2012…we’re hoping our men read this in time for Sunday 🙂

Vanessa’s Mother’s Day Wish:

I want a day off. I’ve been so stressed this week with work that my mother’s day wish is that my husband lets me lounge and takes my work computer away from me so I can catch up on trash TV. A massage, hair cut, new Gucci bag and a nice brunch are all fair alternatives.

Allison’s Mother’s Day Wish:

Wesley always gets me flowers… when I was pregnant and I got flowers for my pre Mother’s Day Mother’s Day, I told him NO MORE FLOWERS! They die, they’re not cheap, and if he’s going to spend $65 on something I’d rather it be on Kendra Scott. Well I shot myself in the foot, because last year I got no flowers, no Kendra Scott, and was only treated to lunch, which I later digested and have never seen again. Soooooo this year, yet again, I’m hoping for Kendra Scott AND lunch :). I made it pretty simple too and sent this fabulous KS piece to Wesley as a gentle and friendly reminder.

Jessica’s Mother’s Day Wish:

Ummm how about a f###ing break from life? No, not appropriate?? Lol. Ok, just a dinner at Taverna with my husband and a bottle of champy once our house is on the market and we’ve found a place in Boston… 🙂

Ashlee’s Mother’s Day Wish:

I would LOVE for my house to miraculously be spotless and stay that way {a girl can dream right?!}.  My little family has the perfect day planned…I am going with one of my best gals to get massages at Woodhouse Spa, then back to their house to eat and swim. The men were put in charge of grocery shopping and cooking so I know we will be getting a tasty meal. I want to be able to watch my boys run and play and my husbands phone to not ring one time. My Hubs also scores brownie points for surprising me early with a Kendra Scott set!

What’s your 1 wish for Mother’s Day 2012?
