Flowers for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away, and with it being the only day of the year that is dedicated to romance, it’s essential that your planning is well thought out and in place before this important date. But dining out at an expensive restaurant may not be a clever choice if you are conscious of your budget. The alternative, therefore, is to spend the most romantic day of the year in the comforts of your own home.

Flowers are among the most purchased items on the market during February. Different flowers account for messages that people want to convey: according to the lifestyle channel Home, white lilies symbolize the beginning of a new relationship, tulips convey love and romance, hyacinths indicate constancy, and orchids represent rare beauty. The most in-demand flower of the season, however, is the rose: in particular, red roses convey a clear message of love and desire to a special someone.

It’s in this context that flowers should take a more central role in decorating your home for Valentine’s Day. Roses in particular have a distinct appeal among Valentine buyers. To differentiate which variety to pick, an M&S video by resident flower expert Simon Richards offers some cues on the meanings of rose colors: red represents passion and love, yellow symbolizes friendship and joy, and pink signifies appreciation and gratitude.

There are a number of ways of giving flowers on Valentine’s Day. The most common are floral arrangements, which allow the flowers to remain fresh for a couple of days. But if the arrangements are too simple for such a special occasion, there are other unique flower decors that you could create. Some of the decors where flowers could prove striking embellishments include heart-shaped wreaths, Valentine messages in buntings, and dinner table arrangements. Creating a “Tree of Love” with rose garlands and photographs of the couple is also recommended, reliving the memories and the love that a couple shares with each other.

February 14 comes only once a year. It’s, therefore, important to exert a lot of effort to make this day special in the eyes of our significant other. You don’t have to spend vast amounts of money; it only needs an imaginative mind and a creative hand to pull off an impressive flower arrangement for Valentine’s Day.
