I’m not officially the ‘short-cut‘ mom {Hi Lisa!}, but I think all moms have a little bit of short cut in them. I’m also not a beauty queen {but we do have FOUR here at AMB}. What I am is a full-time working {outside the home that is} mom with 2 kids, a husband and a home. Ain’t nobody got time for a beauty regimen that takes hours. After all, I do most of my getting ready with a 14 month old either clinging to my legs or in my arms! I’ve come up with a list of the Top 5 things I do to save time {and maybe some money} getting ready.

AMBBeautyTips

1. No Poo Shampoo – I blogged last April about my experiment going ‘no poo’. Almost a year later, I’m still doing it and loving it. I wash my hair with baking soda and use an apple cider vinegar/wash solution as my rinse. What I love about this combo is it is cheap, amazing for my hair, AND I can now go 3 DAYS in between washes. Bonus for the crunchy moms out there – it’s super green too!

2. Coconut Oil to the Rescue – April blogged about coconut oil once before, but this magical oil deserves a nod on the beauty tips list. I use it as lotion, face wash, a way to moisturize my cuticles {and extend the time in between pedicures}. It’s also a way to get natural SPF {without all the harsh chemicals} to protect your face. It’s also great on baby’s skin as lotion and diaper cream!

3. The Spin Pin – My sister just recently introduced me to the Spin Pin and holy time saver. In the name of full disclosure, my hair was a wee bit dirty {I was on day 4 since my last wash}, and we were going to a birthday party. I threw in some dry shampoo, pulled my hair up into a ponytail and used the spin pins to give myself an awesome bun. 5 minutes from start-to-finish for a cute bun that I can guarantee will be making the rounds regularly at work.

4. Dry Shampoo – You probably live under a rock if, as a mom, you don’t know about the magic of dry shampoo, but I feel it is my duty to introduce it to any mother who might not know about the time saving beauty of dry shampoo. Sprinkle a little in your hair, massage through thoroughly and voila – another day you can avoid washing your hair!

5. Simple Makeup – There are days where I have time to carefully apply my makeup. But those days are few and far between. I know I can make myself look good, though, very quickly too. Using a little mineral foundation, blush, mascara and lip gloss and I can look fresh and flawless in 5 minutes.

There you have it – my list for looking great without taking all day to do it.

What are your tips for looking great?
