After three months without a date night, let alone a meal without a one year old, my husband Joel and I were very excited to have an entire evening to celebrate our marriage!  And thanks to Austin Moms Blog and their partnership with NoRTH at the Domain, this amazing date night was all possible!

The night started out great.  We were both dressed for an evening on the town, our son was happy at a friend’s house, and we were headed to our reservation early!A wonderful celebration!

While walking around The Domain a very nice woman stopped me and whispered in my ear, “You have a giant rip in the back of your dress!”  As I reached back I felt my bare skin.  Oops!  My husband sprang into action, tied his shirt around my waist, and we headed to buy a new dress.  So after a little hick-up, I had a new dress and we were still on time to our reservation!

A wonderful menu full of great food and drinks!

My husband and I first happened upon NoRTH when we moved to Austin in January.  After one meal we were hooked and it is now one of our favorite places for a date night!  Who doesn’t love freshly made pizza dough, pasta from scratch, a full bar with an extensive wine list, tender braised short ribs, yummy Bolognese, and an amazing atmosphere with live music right outside on Friday nights?!?!

Although NoRTH has been a favorite for a while this was our first time there for an uninterrupted meal without a toddler!  We started with a yummy bottle of wine and meatball appetizers.

A fun night at NoRTH!

We took our time in ordering our next course.  While enjoying good conversation and fun music floating through the open windows, we enjoyed some delicious bread and butter – simple but so good!  Our salads were excellent.  Joel is a big fan of Caesar, so well done.  And I had the heirloom beet salad.  I wasn’t sure what I was getting, but our sweet waitress encouraged me to try it and I’m glad she did – roasted beets, apple, arugula, hazelnuts, ricotta salata cheese, and lemon crème fraiche.

Although we were quite full we couldn’t help but order separate entrees.  Joel loves their pizza so he had to order the special – white cream sauce, peppers, and sausage.  And because Joel wouldn’t be stealing from my plate I ordered my favorite – seared diver scallops, sweet corn risotto, crispy shallots, and pancetta gremolata.

Yummy entrees!

We relaxed, enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere with candle light and the upbeat music.  We talked about goals for the coming year, recalled our favorite memories from our five years of marriage, we challenged each other, asked how we could be better spouses, laughed, and talked about how we need to go on dates more often!  Joel also agreed to always check the back of my outfits from now on so I don’t walk down the street showing off my rear end any more.

Dessert was twofold, a fun Prosecco drink and an olive oil cake with fresh orange slices and crème fraiche.  We were stuffed but we finished every last bite!

A great way to end the night.
