Pregnant? Vacationing? Go to a resort. Period.

Vacation at Hyatt Lost Pines | Austin Moms Blog | Pregnancy
First trimester = so miserable. For me at least. Hyatt Regency Lost Pines = heaven in the pines. We head there every few months for a staycation and it was due time. I even celebrated my bachelorette party there. I’m a fan, can you tell? I just love to stay at a place down the road that feels like miles away without the travel woos. AND I have to share to all of our readers!

My husband Chris and I have been trying to stay at the Lost Pines resort for three months now but I’ve been so sick and tired that I’ve been unable to move from my house.

I had no idea first trimester was actually house arrest in disguise.

Enter week 12 of pregnancy and drugs. (Not those kind!) My doctor finally gave me some anti-nausea medicine and boy, does it help. And in perfect timing for our “babymoon” at the resort. Here are my tips to enjoy a vacation pregnant or with kids:

      1. Get to the resort/hotel early. We always a good four hours before check in. This resort is so nice they hold your luggage if your room isn’t ready and let you play in all the activities. (Tip for readers – come early, stay late. The hotel even suggests it!)

    1. Give your body time to rest. We get there and I throw myself onto the king size bed for a quick nap while Chris headed straight for the pool and beer. Sunday Funday for both of us!

    1. Try not to let things stress you out. The pool was packed but did we notice? No, because we laid in the Crooked river for a good 5 hours off and on. The kids swam past, played ball, slid down the slide and it didn’t bother us one bit. No alcohol does not equal no fun. I ordered fun non-alcoholic drinks. The strawberry lemonade was phenomenal.

    1. Take in the WHOLE resort/vacation spot. I took a break from pool to watch the other activities on the HUGE property – flag football, soccer by the river, crafts under big pecan trees and a meet and greet with the mascots. We don’t have grown kids yet but there are day adventure camps for kids at Camp Hyatt, outdoor recreation, game rooms and even the Wild Hare Spa for children.  This resort is made for you to bring your kids! This very well could be the best family hotel in town, in my opinion. They give you schedules with daily activities for your children and you! Set your kids free for a while at one of the many activities while you enjoy the spa.

    1. Act like kids even if you don’t have them. I did crafts by myself with other parent’s children and Chris played in the pool all day long. We ended our night with s’mores ’round the fire and Monsters University on the lawn under the big Texas Sky. The perfect end to a no-sick perfect day. One happy and full, pregnant queen.

    1. If you stay even one night, treat yourself like royalty! Order that steak or extra dessert. You deserve it. I went for the Italian buffet at the Firewheel Cafe and had two desserts and strawberries and marshmallows from the chocolate fountain. My appetite came back real quick. Treat yourself to the spa – they have a separate pool here. Relaxing and quiet. Tell the hubby to go golf. Give him some ‘me” time, too. It’s not everyday you get this time to yourself. And it’s not long before you have a baby to take care of.

I didn’t have a spot of morning sickness the entire stay! Maybe I was so focused on relaxing and enjoying this special time with my husband that my body didn’t let me get sick. Or Lost Pines has a magical effect on your body while you’re there because sure enough, ten minutes into the ride home I got sick. Oh pregnancy…

What is your favorite hotel or vacation spot that you frequent??
