With Valentine’s Day in just a few short weeks it’s time to pull out those hot glue guns and get your craftiness on! At Austin Moms Blog we are all about easy crafts that moms will ACTUALLY do!

Here are 4 Valentine’s Day crafts that are definitely going to be a hit in your home, at school, or as gifts! 

LOVE SIGN

What You Need:

• Canvas- I used a 12×24 for my home decor sign and 5×7 for the teacher gifts
• Black Glossy Acrylic Paint
• Painter’s Tape
• Clear Enamel Finishing Spray
• Flat Wooden Letters
• Mod Podge Glue
• 2- Sponge Paint Brushes {one for the glue, one for the paint}
• Gold Glitter
• Tape Measure
• Hot Glue Gun

What You Do:

• Use sponge paint brush to generously apply mod podge to wooden letters {one at a time}.
• Sprinkle gold glitter all over the letters and tap off excess. Put aside to dry while you finish the remaining letters.
• After a couple of minutes spray each letter with the clear enamel finishing spray so that the glitter sets.

While waiting for your letters to dry start working on your canvas. 

• With a tape measure go down each side {length wise} of the canvas and mark off with a pencil every 2″. This will ensure that your lines are not crooked.
• Take your painter’s tape and section off where you plan on keeping the canvas white so that you leave equal sections blank and open for painting black.
• Make sure that the tape is pressed firmly on the canvas to prevent the black paint from bleeding underneath the tape.
• Using your 2nd sponge paint brush, start painting black on every other line to create the stripes.
• Wait for the paint to dry and remove tape.

Now the easiest part! 

• Take your hot glue gun and glue on your gold glitter letters.
• That’s it! Now you have a beautiful addition to your home or an adorable gift for your children’s teachers.

Cookie Bouquet

What You Need:

• Oreo Cookies {I used Vanilla}
• White Bark
• Sprinkles
• Pop Sticks
• Mini Bucket
• Plantar foam block {I used a round foam that fit perfectly in the bucket}

What You Do:

• Melt bark according to directions
• Using a knife lightly apply melted bark to one flat side of each cookie {one at a time, because bark dries quickly}.
• Sprinkle the cookie completely covering the white bark.
• Place on parchment paper or paper to dry.

Basically at this point the cookies are done! Now you have to move on to making these adorable cookies a “pop”.

• Dip one end of your pop stick into the melted bark.
• Stick into the icing between the Oreo.
• The bark ensures that the sticks won’t fall out easily.

Now your pops are complete and the fun begins as you create your bouquet!

• Place your foam block in the bucket
• Start sticking the cookie pops in the foam and arrange as you like!

Voila! You’ve got a precious Valentine’s Day cookie bouquet to give as a gift or take to school for the kid’s Valentine’s Party.

Cookie Pops

 What You Need:

• Follow the cookie instructions above for the bouquet.
• Cookie Pop Bags { I got mine from Michael’s}
• Pre-made or DIY Valentine’s Tags

What You Do:

• The bags came with the ribbon so I just strung the pre-made Valentine’s tags and tied in a bow.

Now my son has thoughtful Valentine’s to pass out to his friends!

DIY Mason Jar Picture Frames

What You Need:

• Mason jars with lids
• Glossy black and white pictures (trimmed to fit)

What You Do:

• Place image in Mason jar
• Fill jar with water
• Tighten on cap

No bleeding or fading! Shake them up and still no worries. I’ve had some frames for over two years and they still are exactly the same. Easy, GREAT gifts and fun for the kids.
