I am one of those women who LOVES being pregnant. I love knowing how strong my body is and that {with a little help from the hubs} I’ve got LIFE inside me! It’s a powerful connection.

BUT…there are definitely a few things about pregnancy that I have never missed after my babies have joined us.

Here are the 10 Things I Won’t Miss After Pregnancy

10 THINGS I WON'T MISS ABOUT

1. Peeing ALL.THE.TIME. I guess the upside is you aren’t going to get a good night’s sleep for a long time after baby comes so might as well start early? But seriously, you barely stand up and force your thighs back into your torture maternity pants when you FOR REAL need to go again.

2. Sweating. My daughter was born in January. When we left for the hospital it was 40 degrees and raining. I was sweating and in a short-sleeved shirt. I was constantly checking for pit sweat, under-boob sweat, crotch sweat. Not pleasant.

3. Morning Sickness. I am fortunate that my morning sickness only lasted the first trimester, but there is nothing fun about throwing up on a regular basis. Brushing my teeth? Throw up. Driving? Throw up. Sitting still at work? Throw up.

4. Not being able to take a full breath. They might be tiny once they are born, but when all your organs are being squished there is nothing tiny about that baby! You constantly feel out of breath even sitting. And getting up to do anything {like pee} makes you super winded.

5. Sciatica. Remember that time I had to crawl through my house because I couldn’t walk? Yeah, that was super special.

6. Being increasingly uncomfortable. Similar to #4, but everything is uncomfortable. I remember waking up and my hands and feet would ache. My hips were sore. My skin was tight and itchy. My clothes were too tight. It’s like the only thing that will make this better is…oh yeah…HAVING THAT BABY!

7. Swelling. Water retention is the pits. Your wedding rings don’t fit. Your face looks like you gained 100 pounds. You are wearing shoes a size or 2 bigger…and they are still tight.

I can't believe I am putting this picture on the internet!

8. Waiting. Wondering ‘When will he/she get here?’ ‘What if my water breaks at work?’ ‘Will the baby be healthy?’ ‘What color eyes will the baby have?’ ‘What if I have to have a c-section?’ It’s non-stop and after awhile gets really old.

9. Other people’s opinions. There’s something about pregnancy that makes people think they can say whatever they want. They can ask you about breastfeeding or daycare. They can comment that you look like you could ‘pop at any minute’ {when you’re 28 weeks pregnant of course}. As my patience wore thin and my hormones raged, it’s hard to smile and be polite.

10. Gaining weight. This might be silly, but it’s reality. As that scale continues to creep up and up and up to numbers you’ve never seen before, and the maternity clothes that were never going to fit they looked so big become too small, your self-esteem starts to take a dive. I constantly worried how I was ever going to lose that much weight. The baby weighs roughly 7-10 pounds, but I’ve gained how much???

  1. I’ve heard and read so many stories from pregnant women about strangers coming up and rubbing their bellies but I never encountered that. Instead women would approach me to tell me how they or their babies nearly died in childbirth. It’s truly amazing what walking around with a conversation starter on your body does to other people.
