Don’t we all need a little sparkle in our lives? Lately I’ve been on a glitter kick. You name it and I’ve slapped some glue and glitter on it… particularly gold. It’s probably from all this gloomy weather we’ve had. Either way, I’m now the proud owner of at least 10 home decor items that are all sparkling with glitter. There are probably 1000 ways to add some sparkle to your life, but here are 4 that will hopefully inspire your gold kick too!

Deep in the Heart of Texas

Austin Moms Blog | Add Some Glitter To Your Life {DIY}

What You Need:

  • Canvas – I used a leftover 16×24 from a previous project, but this would probably look better if it were a tad smaller.
  • Paint – Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is probably my absolute favorite paint to work with. Kalology off South Congress is THE spot to go! For this project, I used the color Graphite. I’ve also used acrylic paint from the craft store on a previous project so anything will work.
  • Painter’s Tape
  • Glue – Use a glue that disperses out of a fine point
  • Texas Shaped Stencil printable here –> austin-moms-blog-texas-printable
  • GLITTER

What You Do:

  • With a tape measure go down each side {length wise} of the canvas and mark off with a pencil every 2″. This will ensure that your lines are not crooked.
  • Take your painter’s tape and section off where you plan on keeping the canvas white so that you leave equal sections blank and open for painting black.
  • Make sure that the tape is pressed firmly on the canvas to prevent the black paint from bleeding underneath the tape.
  • Using your 2nd sponge paint brush, start painting black on every other line to create the stripes.
  • Wait for the paint to dry and remove tape.
  • Trace your Texas stencil in the middle of the dry canvas.
  • Using your glue, lightly apply the glue in sections … the glue dried fast so working in small sections works best.
  • If you get outside of the “state lines” just use a toothpick to clean up the edges.
  • {optional} Glue a crystal over your city!

Glitter Clay Pots

Austin Moms Blog | Add Some Glitter To Your Life {DIY}

What You Need:

  • Clay Pots
  • White Spray Paint
  • Gold Paint Pen
  • Mod Podge
  • Paint Sponge
  • GLITTER!

What You Do:

  • Give your terracotta pots a couple of coats of white spray paint. It will dribble, but after a coat, or 2, or 3, you won’t even notice the dribbles.
  • After your pots have dried generously apply Mod Podge with the paint sponge to the lower half of your pot. You can’t really use painter’s tape on this one, because of the shape of the pot so just eyeball it. You can’t really mess this one up.
  • Sprinkle with GLITTER!
  • These pots are going in my bathroom {once our house is complete} so I wrote some fun inspirational quotes on the other 2 pots. Come up with something that suits you!

Glitter Marshmallow Pops

Austin Moms Blog | Add Some Glitter To Your Life {DIY}

I decided that glitter-fied cake pop sticks wasn’t enough and wanted to glitter the marshmallows too.

What You Need:

  • Marshmallows
  • Sprinkles
  • Water

What You Do:

  • Dip the top of the marshmallow into some water.
  • Dip the top of the marshmallow into a bowl of gold sprinkles and let dry.

So what do you think? Are you as in love with glitter as I am?!
