My favorite e-card captures my sense of humor on parenting. It reads, “I plan to give you love, nurturing, and just enough dysfunction to make you funny.”

So, it’s not very often that I have the chance to sit down and think about where I’ve been, and how I ended up here. Parenthood doesn’t give you the privilege to really push the pause button, let alone have the opportunity to share a complete thought.

You see, five years ago my life changed dramatically. At the time, I had already been living in Austin for a couple of years. I was teaching, traveling, and dancing through my late twenties. That was of course until that one fateful night I met, “the guy in the blue suit”. A dear friend of mine invited me to Univision’s Premios Texas, a Latin music awards show taking place at the Long Center.  It all happened so quickly.  My friend jumped at the opportunity to introduce us, and caught me completely off guard. Once we met, we were inseparable. Months later we ended up receiving news that we were going to be parents. My first reaction… Oh crap.

Within the first year of knowing one another, we fell in love, became parents, got married…and then dated. Talk about a relationship on steroids. It was the most difficult year of my life. Learning to become a wife and a mother within the same time frame is like learning to perfect how to play Twister. It’s madness, pure madness.

I will tell you this, even though we had a rollercoaster of a marriage the first couple of years, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I believe God really blessed our marriage, and we took the steps to make it work. Hector is definitely the love of my life, my best friend, my ride or die partner…my balance.  So now we are working together on being the best version of ourselves by working towards fulfilling our goals, which includes starting our new ventures. When we aren’t entertaining our little ones, our family is exploring this amazing city we call home, laughing it up with family/friends, or trying to continue our triathlon workout program(yikes). We are all goofballs, which is evident in all our family selfies.

We celebrated our 5th anniversary this March. I guess you can I say I love this guy. ;)
We recently celebrated our 5th anniversary!

Last May, we welcomed our second daughter, Sofia Luna. She is our cheeky cherub and is a happy, yet very stubborn momma’s girl.  Valentina, our soon to be 5 year old, is our very witty and dramatic fashionista. I may be biased, but I think my daughters are pretty spectacular. I grew up with boys, and never really had an understanding of what it meant to have a sister. Watching my girls build their sisterly bond is really a new experience for me. I know later our home will be full of estrogen and unnecessary drama, but at the moment, their relationship is my little piece of heaven.

We are beyond blessed with a home filled with laughter and love from our girls and their big fur brother, Mokey, our Chocolate Labrador.

My loves. This captures them perfectly. My dreamer, my honey, and our cheeky cherub (yeah, she's over the idea of taking photos).
Guess who’s scoping out the next rock to put in her mouth?

I’m a list fanatic. I’m sure that is how I keep my randomness at bay. So with that said, here’s a list of a few random things about myself:

  1. I’m from the great city of El Paso, TX, but grew up in Houston, San Diego, and Baton Rouge.
  2. Attended LSU & University of Houston (graduated with a degree in advertising)
  3. God, coffee, and music are the only ones that understand me in the morning
  4. A creative and entrepreneur at heart, including owning a part-time photography business
  5. When I start laughing uncontrollably, I sound like an old man (yeah, I’ve come to terms with it)

At the end of the day, when the kids are asleep and I finally catch my breath, I’m incredibly grateful that God gave me this wild ride I call my life.

I asked my family & friends to provide a word that describes me. I am truly a reflection of the people in my life. So humbled.
