20 Questions to Ask Your Husband on Date Night

I look forward to date night just as much as any other woman. Who doesn’t enjoy wearing actual clothes that are somewhat in fashion, savoring great food or exploring new adventurous activities?! Pre-kids, dates were not always glamorous, but they were regular. They happened.

Now that we have two kids I literally count down the days until we get to spend time alone together. Dates are the only time my husband and I can have an actual conversation between the two of us that lasts more than thirty seconds. We continue conversations over days on a regular basis. A sentence here, a few phrases via text throughout the day. Living in a house with toddlers like we do, it’s amazing how many needs arise when two adults are trying to simply talk to each other! Pleas for more water, another napkin, something different to eat, questions about the iPad or requests to sit on my lap, seem like they are on a looping repeat every single night.

Yet, once we finally find a sitter, make plans and leave the house without kiddos, it’s often eerily silent. Know what I mean? Like we have no clue what to talk about when given the chance to actually speak. It makes me sad and worried there’s something wrong with us. Please tell me we aren’t the only ones! Before kids, when we couldn’t find words it was most likely because we were doing something else with our mouths (wink wink.)

Usually when we go out the first thing we can think to talk about is our awesome (or not-so-awesome if they decided to skip nap) kids. How lame! Story of my life.

Lately I like to make sure I’m prepared with talking points and conversation starters so we don’t just sit there staring out the window, listening to the radio or worse, talking about our kids the entire time. These questions can be silly, serious and everything in between. Usually it’s a short list I keep on my phone, but I thought it would be fun to make it into a longer list of 20 questions. The next time we head to dinner alone I plan to try to get through as many as I can. I have an idea how my husband will answer, but you never know until you ask and that what makes this fun!

You can use this list as a starting point to make your own, or come up with 20 questions for each other before your next date night. You could also turn it into a game and answer for each other to see if your answers match. There are lots of way to use this list of questions on your next night out!
