North Austin

I’m a North Austin girl. Always been, and always will be. If you tell me Brodie or it’s around the “Y in Oak Hill”…I’m utterly lost without my GPS.

From the great schools, to the Domain, to the delicious restaurants, North Austin has the BEST of everything! For me, it has definitely upped its game since growing up here. Here are a just a few reasons why I LOVE living North:

Anderson Lane

From Hopdoppy, to Terra Toys, to Cover 3, to the Alamo at the Village, Anderson Lane is AH-mazing. There is also Heartsong Music for sweet music classes and the newly opened Little Yoga House. It’s essentially a street with everything you could possibly need.

Burnet Road

While Anderson Lane has become cool the past couple years, Burnet Road has become a food lover’s paradise. From Barley Swine, Bufalina, Lick, Noble Sandwich Co., Pinthouse Pizza, and Apothecary (go on Saturdays for half off bubbly), it’s a date night dream to just venture down the road.

The Domain

As you venture further north down Burnet Road, you’ll hit The Domain. Whether you want to shop the GORGEOUS new Nordstrom, let the littles ride a train, play in a grassy lawn, enjoy a date night at Culinary Dropout or Second Bar and Kitchen, listen to live music, or visit the bars on the Rock Rose strip, it has a little bit of everything. It’s right in the HEART of North Austin.

Here are a few more reasons NORTH Austin is where it’s at:

Chez Zee: Their brunch is one of the best in Austin.

Monkey Nest:  Love the eclectic nature of this coffee house, even quiet meeting rooms available for rent. Must try the spicy mocha!

Epoch Coffee: Not only is this an amazing coffee house, it is actually a great place to meet up for a play date. Watch the fish swim in a nearby pond while you take your food and coffee to go for a fun picnic!

Redhorn Coffee House and Brewing Company: Best of both worlds: Coffee during the day then happy hour from their delicious tap beer. Also, they are actually fairly kid friendly too with toys and highchairs available for the little ones.

Austin Beerworks: Great atmosphere for a tasty beer, and they are expanding their space to be even more awesome!

Arboretum: Relax outside by a patio fireplace, let your kiddos play by the famous cows, take a hike to feed the ducks, and enjoy some delicious Amy’s ice scream, all while shopping at staples like Janie and Jack and Gymboree.

Little Land: A much more manageable play gym than others (especially for babies and new walkers.) They can swing, slide, and bounce but in a padded environment.

Catch Air: Reminds me a bit of a Willy Wonka playground – bright, colorful, and a child’s dream world. Your little one will definitely be taking a nap after bringing them here.

Best parks: Walnut Creek greenbelt, Bull Creek Greenbelt, Springwoods Park, Tanglewood Park, Gracywoods Park, and Brentwood Park just to name a few.
