What an honor it is to write for Austin Moms Blog! Writing is where I find my flow…I lose track of time and am able to process the beautiful, everyday happenings and experiences. Austin Moms Blog is a powerful catalyst in bringing us together in sisterhood, something I strongly believe in. As the Preemptive Love Coalition says, “When we live like we all belong to each other, we answer much of the longing in the world.”

I was born in Santa Monica, California and raised in Springfield, Missouri. I’m a University of Missouri grad (MIZ-ZOU) and moved to Austin 18 (!) years ago. While I’m not a native Texan, my two kids are native Austinites.  Niko, my 12-year old middle schooler, is my sensitive, highly intelligent, daring, funny, loving, curious boy. Immediately after he was born, when he heard my voice, he stopped crying as he looked into my eyes. And this has been our relationship ever since. Julia, my 9-year old (going on 19), is my determined, bright, beautiful light. She is always imagining, playing, cartwheeling, talking, leading and loving. I treasure her and I love being with her. She recently even started her own pet sitting business in Northwest Hills.

I revel in the beauty, depth and honesty of my relationship with my kids. We love serving together, reading together (currently reading “Where the Red Fern Grows”), exploring together, talking together. I try to listen to them with my heart. Through them, I have transformed into a mother and been given the most beautiful name in the world.

My adulthood has been highly influenced by the fact that growing up, my weekends were spent outdoors. I was raised right along the most beautiful river in the world. Instead of skating parties, we had river parties. Everyone brought their lawn chairs and jelly shoes and lounged in the water.  My dad called nature his Heaven. And it’s become mine. As John Muir wrote, “Keep close to Nature’s heart…and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.” I’ve found there’s nothing better than spending time in the outdoors with my kids to detox from electronics and find my breath!

I am able to do a mix of mothering and marketing @Gemalto, a French-based high tech company. After 10-years of working there and traveling to Paris twice a year, I am finally learning French. Oui! I feel extremely blessed by this work-life balance. I work while my kids are at school, then I pick them up and we begin the extracurricular circus!

I love to run (road and trail), I love to read. For my 40th birthday this year, my best friend collected favorite books from friends and family. My book collection is now tremendously meaningful and I’m reading and experiencing each book this year. I love volunteering at my kids’ school. I joyfully (most of the time) spend countless hours there, where the community is our extended family. I’m challenging myself with a yoga practice with the most wonderful village of people @StudioMantra. I believe in kindness and the power of a smile, and strive to be an ambassador for the poor. I love puns and dumb jokes. I also have a great Brad Pitt story.

When my children reflect on me, as their mother, I pray they always know they are loved, appreciated and needed unconditionally – and in turn love themselves, carry a deep joy and know they are enough. I wish that for all of us.

I’m grateful to write for you, my fellow sisters, for your time and energy. I hope to share and journey together on this beautiful adventure of motherhood.

Brittany’s two children (now a teen and a tween!), have gifted her with the most beautiful name (and role) in the world. Their journey together inspires her to pursue her passion of writing, a powerful catalyst that brings mothers together in sisterhood. As the Preemptive Love Coalition says, “When we live like we all belong to each other, we answer much of the longing in the world.” Brittany is grateful for a work-life balance in digital marketing @gemalto and as a brand architect working with female entrepreneurs who are making the world a better place for their clients. She’s also an outdoor lover, reader, memory maker, runner, joke teller, ambassador for the poor. Looking to publish The Virtual Village. 1. Brittany Jedrzejewski i remember your childhood. You so enjoyed the river with your family me on the other hand was not a river fan. You ,Scott and,John had a lot of fun playing in the river. I’m so happy you share this with your children. I found it funny Scott was a better fisherman than Charlie. Do you still eat hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese. I always found that a strange dish but today i love it. Always share your childhood with your kids
