When I first learned about Money Coaching I literally felt my skin crawl – the idea of sitting down and talking all things finances just didn’t sound appealing.

I originally heard about Money Coaching at the Capital One Banking Reimagined Tour where I learned that I’d be coached a couple of weeks later. At the Banking Reimagined Tour I was able to visualize what it’s important in my life with their interactive virtual tour.

So what is Capital One Money Coaching?

Capital one recognizes that you have a relationship with your money—and, let’s be honest, relationships take work. A Money Coach can help you take control of that relationship by zeroing in on what’s really important, and helping you find new perspective and confidence. Your Money Coach will guide you through several activities during up to three one-on-one sessions. Each session lasts 60 minutes and is designed to get you one step closer to your goals. Coaching is confidential and judgment free. Just bring yourself – no records or bank statements necessary.

I first met my Money Coach, Amanda at the Capital One Banking Reimagined Tour and knew immediately that this Money Coaching thing wasn’t going to be so bad. She was super confident, incredibly easy to talk to, and explained that Money Coaching is all about me and where I want to take it based on my goals.

Capital One offers Money Coaching for free and you don’t even have to bank at Capital One to take advantage of this service. They offer 3 one hour Money Coaching sessions, but so far I’ve only made it to my first one.

Amanda and I mapped out my values, what’s important and what’s not so important. This particular exercise was extremely eye-opening, therapeutic if you will. It made me recognize that I’m placing too much importance in some areas and not enough in others. There were a lot of exercises we did during my one hour, but it was up to me as to what we were going to focus on. Values are really important to me and before visiting with Amanda I didn’t realize how much values and finances work together.

Money Coaching can happen in different ways:

  • In-person, confidential conversations using creative tools to help customers gain control of their money.
  • Hands on, emotional and practical tools
  • Actionable next steps

Broad toolkit allows for personalization Interactive workshops at the Cafes that get people talking and thinking differently about their money and their lives.

  • Provocative, playful, and intelligent content
  • Modules that address different life stages
  • Takes into account different learning styles
  • Incorporates tips and stories from community and people like you

I encourage anyone, whether you’re struggling with finances or not to check out this amazing service that Capital One provides for free! Whether you’re saving up for a house, setting money aside for your child’s education, or just need to know where you stand with finances, Capital One’s Money Coaching Service is invaluable!
