mocktails

Whether you’re pregnant, counting calories or, like me, a year-round mocktail connoisseur, I’m here with good news:

Mocktails can be good y’all!

Here are a few of my favorites:

Tart Cherry Tini

1 ounce tart cherry juice (my favorite brand is R.W. Knudsen Family Just Tart Cherry and I get it at HEB)
½ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
4 ounces sparkling water
Garnish: lime wedge

And if you’re early in pregnancy and still trying to hide it, here’s a pro tip: If you can handle the tart cherry juice solo, it looks just like red wine in a glass.

Pom Fizz (for a cause!)

1 can Blackberry Pomegranate Clean
Pomegranate seeds or muddled blackberry
Garnish: mint or lime wedge

One of my new favorite sparkling water brands (don’t tell La Croix and Topo I’ve branched out) is Clean Cause. Fifty percent of Clean’s profits go to support individuals in recovery. And they’re a local company! You can find them in most Whole Foods, Central Markets, and Snap Kitchens.

Pecan Soda

I know, I was skeptical when I first tried this one, too. My husband and I were on a date night and Cafe Josie last week and the waitress recommended it. Totally different, but would go great with your holiday pecan pie.

1 can sparkling water (Waterloo is another new local favorite)
1 ounce pecan syrup
Garnish: strawberry

And never underestimate the good old “put bubble water in a wine glass” trick. Sometimes it’s just about the routine of it all. Hey, go crazy, throw a lime wedge on there, too. Try these recipes out and join the party. And revel in the hangover-free-weekend.
