The holiday season is upon us guys which at our house means, lazy days off from elementary school/preschool. Family movie nights are my kids’ favorite things to do at the end of holiday vacation days. We all get in our PJs after showers/baths in mommy and daddy’s bed, eat popcorn, and drink hot chocolate and snuggle! It’s my favorite!
As we get to that time of year I wanted to share some of our favorite family holiday movies:
Note: we have an elementary school aged child and a preschool child so these are skewed for younger viewers.
1. Frosty, Grinch and Rudolph (G)
*Classic Movie Favorites. These are all played on TV. We own these at this point, but we used to DVR them.
2. The Elf on the Shelf: An Elf’s Story (not rated)
*Comes on TV each year and we just DVR it.
3. Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas
*Usually available on Netflix or at the local library. Also a great Pandora station for the holidays.
4. The Nightmare Before Christmas (PG)
*We watch this at Halloween too. It can be found on Netflix.
5. Polar Express (G)
*Well done book-turned-movie. Comes on TV. DVR
6. Home Alone (PG)
*I think my kids are just now old enough for this cute movie. We are going to watch it this year. Hope I’m not wrong. Ha!
7. Elf (PG)
*I loved this movie but need to preview it to make sure it’s truly kid appropriate. We may try it this year.
And just for fun, I want to share some fun movies to watch after the kids go to bed.
1. Four Christmases
We just think this movie is hysterical!
2. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
*Honestly it’s not the holidays if you aren’t watching this movie.
3. Miracle on 34th Street
*Too many words and not enough color (wink wink) for my kids but it’s a classic.
4. It’s a Wonderful Life
* Get the tissues out
Merry Family Movie Night, Y’all!
