Waller Creek Conservancy’s First Annual Field Day!

:: Sponsored by : Waller Creek Conservancy ::

We like to think that we’ve reached prime, perfect-weather season in Austin. Temperatures are steadily rising without reaching the triple digits of summer. May is an ideal time to enjoy the outdoors in one of our city’s lovely downtown parks and get in some healthy activity along the way. And, we’ve got just the family-friendly event for you…

Join us on Saturday, May 12th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Palm Park (711 E. 3rd St. near the Fairmont Hotel) for Waller Creek Conservancy’s (WCC) first annual Field Day! Sponsored by St. David’s Foundation, WCC Field Day hopes to bring everyone out for a day of health awareness and fun in the heart of the Waller Creek district. Attendees can enjoy performances, live music, a group exercise class, various Field Day-themed games, information booths, and complimentary drinks and healthy snacks. And it’s completely free!

The event kicks off with an 8:30 a.m. yoga class by Yoga in Da Hood followed by a cooking demonstration by Green Ninja Cooks at 9:30 a.m. Next up is a step performance by Campbell Elementary at 10:30 a.m. and live music from G’beda at 11:30 a.m.

During these performances, various activity stations will be set up across the park where children can participate in games and receive tokens redeemable for free prizes. The games, designed for ages 5-12, include javelin throw, sack race, and ring toss as well as a rock wall, YMCA obstacle course, Yoga N Da Hood, and Dance Waterloo station.

In addition, booths will offer interactive activities and information from: Wheatsville Co-op, YMCA, Austin Nature & Science Center, Capital Metro, We Are Blood, Austin Fit, Think Bilingual Austin, Mexican-American Cultural Center and the League of Women Voters.

We know time with your family is precious and we hope that you’ll share some of that time with us on May 12th by coming to our first annual Field Day. We love our Austin community and can’t wait to share a fun-filled, healthy day out at the park. You can find more information on Field Day here and find us on social media on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
