Set Your Children Up For A Successful Future | Austin Independent School District

Did you know that enrolling early in school helps children get a head start and improves their chances for a successful future?

More than 30 Austin ISD schools now provide half-day pre-K to children as young as 3, with many more offering full-day pre-K for 4-year-olds.

AISD pre-K students receive age-appropriate instruction in all areas of the curriculum, preparing them for success in kindergarten and beyond. Pre-K teachers focus on developing:

  • language skills
  • problem-solving skills
  • self-expression and independent thinking;
  • a sense of responsibility and self-control
  • feelings of security and success and a joy for learning

Austin ISD cares about the whole child—every child.

This means that AISD teachers are trained in social and emotional learning, and mindfulness is taught throughout the district. AISD’s mission is to provide a high-quality, comprehensive educational experience that is challenging, while instilling values in all students to a have a positive impact on society.

Another thing that sets Austin ISD apart from other options is the dual language pre-K curriculum available at 12 different campuses. There, students spend equal time using two different languages, with opportunities in Spanish, Mandarin and Vietnamese.

Help your little learner continue to develop their language skills and give them an advantage for life by preparing them for one of many dual language elementary schools!

Pre-K is available tuition-free if your family meets certain income, language or military service-based criteria. Even if your family doesn’t qualify for a free spot, Austin ISD’s tuition-based pre-K program is still more affordable than most private day care facilities, and you have the added reassurance that your student is in the care of a professional teacher.

Austin ISD schools offer a challenging and nurturing environment to help children discover and develop the full range of their talents and skills, ensuring students are prepared for college, career and life.
