Greetings Austin Earthlings!
To celebrate WONDER opening in Austin, Austin Mayor Steve Adler has proclaimed Saturday, November 11, 2017 as Choose Kind Day. We ask you to join us to celebrate CHOOSE KIND DAY by participating in your own random acts of kindness on November 11th by sharing on social and using the hashtag #ChooseKindAustin and volunteering at your favorite charities/organizations.
Below are some activities that have been coordinated with Generation Serve, a non-profit that provides year-round family service experiences and youth leadership programs to educate children about their community and how they can get involved.
Choose Kind Day Activities:
Adelphi Acre Gardens Work Day
Volunteers will be weeding, mulching, tending the butterfly garden, harvesting, and planting in the donation garden beds. Produce collected from the harvest is donated to a local food pantry.
Ronald McDonald House
Volunteers will be arriving in three separate shifts to prepare a meal for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Austin. Here is the location of the Ronald McDonald House of Austin: 1315 Barbara Jordan Blvd, Austin, TX 78723
Austin Pets Alive Mural Painting
We are partnering with Austin Pets Alive in creating a WONDER inspired mural highlighting animals and WONDER’s message of choosing kindness. The mural will be painted on Austin Pets Alive Thrift store, a boutique-style thrift store selling high quality new, and gently used items, for very low prices. ALL net proceeds go to support the innovative life-saving programs of Austin Pets Alive! The thrift shop is located on: 5801 Burnet Rd, Austin, TX 78756
Let’s make this Saturday our kindest day ever!!!

Ashlee Krause Hello again, Austin mamacitas! I was a contributor for AMB not long after it was born, but took a break around 2 1/2 years ago when I had my 4th and final babe. I’m baaaaack!! I have been married to my best guy for almost 12 years, together for 15. We have had […]
The beginning of a new year is a special time to reflect on family dynamic, while making plans for the coming months ahead. Looking back on the year is always fun, and in our house I like to talk about the things we did for others, including our family, friends and community. The end […]
“In 2015, there will be an estimated 231,840 new breast cancer cases diagnosed and 40,290 cancer deaths in the US.” ~ American Cancer Society When I was in college, my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She hadn’t done anything “wrong” to make her high risk, except maybe live to be 80. My family was lucky. Not […]
I love Christmas but I am not a domestic diva. Like not a domestic diva at all. My husband cooks (and well I might add) and one of my new year’s resolutions is to spring for a monthly house cleaning. But like I said, I love Christmas and all the fun celebrating that comes with […]
My family was lucky enough to represent Austin Moms Blog at the most recent WWE Raw event in Austin a few weeks ago. Surprising my 10, 8, & 5 year old with those tickets was great, and we were very excited as a family. I remember watching WWE when I was young, although I didn’t […]
The other night, a friend and I were treated to a fantastic dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. We went to the Sunset Valley location, where the store Managing Partner (GM) Paul Bedeski showed us what a true dining experience is. To the extreme pleasure of my taste buds, we tried all sorts of food, but I […]
