Lace up your running shoes and tie them with some jingle bells! Ready to run for the holidays? There are plenty of season-theme holiday runs in Austin, including kid-friendly fun runs with holiday celebrations following the main event. You may even see Santa or catch the Gingerbread Man!


Saturday, November 19th 

Blacklight Run

6:00 pm

Austin. The Blacklight Run™ is none other than the brightest, most fun 5K out there. At the Blacklight Run™ we aren’t focused on how fast or how far you can run, what type of exercise you enjoy, or if you’re an avid runner. We don’t care if you’ve never run a day in your life! Instead, we welcome any and all participants looking for a glowing good time. Whether you sprint it, run it, or walk it, it doesn’t matter to us! We simply want you to enjoy it. These three miles will be the best three miles you’ve ever spent with your friends and family—we promise.


Fit Fox 5K 

9:00 am

Dripping Springs. Join us for the 2016 Fit Fox 5K benefiting the Hays County Sheriff’s Department! If you have ran the Fit Fox 5K the past two years you might be happy to know that we now have a new and improved location with a much calmer course at the beautiful Twisted X Brewing Company in Dripping Springs! This year’s race will be held on November 19th, which also means a much cooler race. This 5K is great for all fitness levels, especially beginners or those who want to lay it all out there and test their speed. This will be a timed race if you choose. 


Insane Inflatable 5K 

8:30 am

Round Rock. We like to say the Insane Inflatble 5K was born on the back of bar napkins, because, well, that’s the truth! Those napkins were the sketch-pad from which dreams came to life one night in an Orlando bar. It’s unclear how inflatables even came up in conversation or how many beers had been consumed at the time, but the resulting inflatables are so gigantic we couldn’t believe our own eyes!


Thursday November 24th 

Cedar Park Turkey Day 5K 

7:30 am

Cedar Park. This is a Family Fun event close to your home and the right distance for you and your family to come out have a great time and make home in time for Turkey.  The course rolling hills but fast!


Drippin’ with Thanks 5K

8:00 am

Austin. On November 24th we will be having the 3rd Annual Dripping Springs Thanksgiving Day 5k race in Highpointe! All proceeds will be donated to local families in need.  This race is organized and run by a few of our Dripping Springs students and their families trying to give back to our community.  


Lake Forest Turkey Trot 

8:00 am

Round Rock. Save the date … and come run – walk – stroll with us at the 6th Annual Lake Forest Turkey Trot! This event raises money for Two local charities, Round Rock Operation Blue Santa and The Back Pack Coalition. The Round Rock Serving Center will also be out at the race with a food donation truck. Please bring a few canned good or non perishable items to help stuff the truck. If you would like to support Round Rock Operation Blue Santa and The Backpack Coalition you can do so by ordering a race moisture wicking t-shirt that also comes with a swag bag. 


Pfeathered PFun Run 

8:00 am

Pflugerville. What better way to get your Thanksgiving Day started than with a great energy-raising run? Well, how about a Thanksgiving Day run that also supports local food pantries?

The Pfeathered Pfun Runs take place Thanksgiving Day. Choose to run either a 5K or 10K, depending upon how hungry you want to be for dinner. For the younger runners, we also offer a Little Trotters Kids’ K.


ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot

Austin. It’s almost time again for one of our favorite events of the year: the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot! Over the past 25 years, the event has raised nearly $3 million to support Caritas’ mission and work. There is no better way to support Caritas of Austin in November than to participate than Registering, Volunteering or Joining the Raffle!

Georgetown. On Thanksgiving Day, challenge your family, friends, and co-workers to come out and run on the roads and trails in Georgetown that starts and finishes in beautiful Downtown Georgetown Square. The race will feature an untimed 5 mile run/walk and 1 mile walk (both starting at 8a.m.), sponsor booths, and tons of fun! Fun course is ideal for the walker to the competitive runner and everything in between. Great for strollers too! There will be a free Kids’ Fun Run, too.


Sunday, November 27th

Round Rock Rotary Reindeer Run

Round Rock. The Rotary Club of Round Rock Sunrise and the Round Rock Parks and Recreation present the seventh annual Reindeer Run. Be one of the first to experience Round Rock’s amazing new Rock’N Lights Holiday Light Tour, while participating in a 5K family fun run to raise funds for the maintenance, improvement and expansion of the Play for All Abilities Park in Round Rock for children with cognitive or physical challenges. The Play for All Abilities Park opened in March 2012, and use of the park has been beyond our expectations.


Friday, December 2nd

9th Annual Lights of Love 

6:00 pm 

Austin. Join us for an evening of holiday festivities! Friends, family and even four-legged companions will enjoy an evening of traditional holiday fun including a walk around Mueller Lake adorned with holiday lights, a visit with Santa Claus, a snow slide, gingerbread house decorating, kids’ crafts, hot chocolate, photo booth, holiday music and much more under the Hangar!

This year we are bringing back the tradition of “buying a light” for $20 to honor loved ones and to support our children and families. BE THE LIGHT for our families and help light up the Mueller Lake trail with your own personal light sign! Gather your friends and family and form a Lights of Love team to help us reach our goal to raise $130,000. But most importantly, come out and have some holiday fun!


Saturday, December 3rd

2016 Trail of Lights Fun Run 

6:30 pm

Austin. The Trail of Lights Fun Run is where fitness gets festive. With everything from crazy costumes and hats to the run through over 2 million lights – we’re back and better than ever!
The 2.1 mile run begins at the Zilker Tree and ends at the historic Yule Log in the Trail of Lights. Run through a sea of Santas and elves and enjoy the lighted tunnels and displays. Be sure to take a breather afterwards at our Finish Line Festival, featuring a DJ dance party, activities, an expo and giveaways from health brands and more!

Cedar Park Jingle Bell 5K 

7:00 pm

Cedar Park. The race will be on a certified 5K course that leaves Gupton Stadium and travels east on Park St. to Vista Ridge Blvd, then south to Brushy Creek Road and then back to Gupton road, around Reagan Elementary and back to Gupton Stadium. Runners are encouraged to dress up in a Holiday Theme.Hot Cocoa & Cookies will be served! Pictures with Santa!


Old Town Rudolph Run

10:00 am

Leander. The 1st annual Old Town Rudolph Run takes place in Old Town Leander the first Sat. of Dec. It starts in the Heart of Old Town and winds through the streets of Leander. The course is flat with no hills or rough terrain. You finish the last half mile running past the Old Town Christmas Market and exciting activities that will be kicking off the all day festival. The post-race festival will include children’s activities, adult beverages, food trailers, and music.  This fun run will have limited participation, so sign up early to ensure you can join us for this exciting event.


The Circus – McKinney Roughs Trail Runs/Relay

6:00 am (first race)

Austin. Spectrum Trail Racing is a high caliber series of trail running races across Texas. Expect beautiful courses, an amazing community, and a stellar after party, full of local flare. We will have plenty to do to keep you entertained at the start/finish while you wait. Bring a tent, chairs, coolers, etc. We will have live music, over a dozen vendors, and small challenges (think: hand stand competition, ladder ball brackets, beer can stacking challenge and on…)

The Sights & Sounds of Christmas 5K and 1k Jingle Bell Run

9:00 am

San Marcos. The Sights & Sounds of Christmas 5K and 1k Jingle Bell Run will be held Saturday December 3rd, 2016 at 9:00 am. The course will showcase the beautiful downtown and Historic District of San Marcos. “Course Cert”: # TX15108ETM.  The race will begin and finish at the San Marcos Plaza Park.  Chip timing will be used and Christmas music will be enjoyed along the 5K route!  Every 5K and 1K entrant will receive a high quality shirt (If registered by Nov. 28th).

The Texas Wildflower Run is a traditional 2 to 5-mile route that travels on the Ann & Roy Butler Hike & Bike Trail along Lady Bird Lake. One of the best times of the year to plant wildflower seeds in Texas is in the fall just before winter.

Girls on the Run 5K

Austin. Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.


Sunday, December 11th

ARC Decker Challenge

8:00 am

Austin. Come join us on Sunday, December 11th at 8 AM for the 2016 running of this classic Austin race around beautiful Decker Lake in east Austin. Each registrant receives a technical race shirt and each finisher receives a highly-coveted Decker Challenge finisher’s medal! Net proceeds from the Distance Challenge will benefit The Trail Foundation.


Austin Jingle Bell 5K

Austin. Be part of the largest holiday-themed 5K race series anywhere – and join the movement to conquer arthritis! The Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run is a fun way to get out, get moving and raise funds and awareness to cure America’s #1 cause of disability. In communities nationwide, this annual event brings together people from all walks of life to shout “Yes, we will live life to its fullest while searching for a cure!” As a Champion of Yes, kick off your holidays by helping conquer arthritis once and for all!

The event features activities for the entire family. Wear a holiday-themed costume. Tie jingle bells to your shoelaces. Show off your ugly holiday sweater. Complete a 5-kilometer run or walk with your team members, spreading smiles, good cheer and a winning spirit … and be a Champion of Yes!


Hawk Nation IHT Spirit FitFest

Pflugerville. The Hawk Nation IHT Spirit FitFest powered by adidas 5K and Kids K and Wellness expo will be held at Hendrickson High School on Sunday , December 11.  Proceeds from registrations, sponsorships and donations will be used to to help purchase the IHT/adidas Zones wrist heart rate monitors for our P.E. classes. This is a fun, fantastic community event.  Participants are encouraged to raise pledges on the team pledge page as every dollar will help reach the goal of raising $12,500.  We hope to see you there and that you will join us in making our students and entire community healthier.

Kyle-O-Meter Resolution Run

Kyle. The Kyle-O-Meter is the perfect motivation for those that are aiming toward a healthy lifestyle.  Participants will be surrounded by local businesses that have a focus on healthy activities, including healthy tips, motivations, and a race guide to track their progress throughout the year. We’re really all about getting individuals, families, and friends all out to the starting line on race day for a great time celebrating victories and movement, all while raising funding to support the local economy, community and business.

Resolution Day Austin 5K

8:30am

Austin. This is a family fun event which has spots for all levels of fitness and starting out the new year with fitness in mind is all about social running and having a good time with all. Come join us on Jan. 8th and start the year off right. We are running along the beautiful Brushy Creek Trail System.
