Yes, there are plenty places around Austin to pick up a Christmas tree, but wouldn’t it be fun to venture out as a family to a tree farm where you can pick out and cut down your own tree? Here are a few Christmas tree farms nearby where you can choose and cut your own tree!
Georgetown. On November 24, come experience the magic as we kick-off the holiday season with our annual Lighting of the Square, traditionally held at 5:30 p.m. the Friday after Thanksgiving! Sing along with the Austin Carolers to your favorite holiday tunes! Join Georgetown Mayor Dale Ross and Williamson County Treasurer Scott Heselmeyer as we help Santa countdown and flip on the holiday lights on The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas! The downtown shops will be open late, so plan to get in some unique holiday shopping. This is a free event. Also, stop by The Williamson Museum and let the children make a free craft! You can have your photo taken with Santa inside the courthouse from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Austin. What began as a small gathering in 1965 known as the “Yule Fest,” a gift to the city of Austin from Austin Parks and Recreation Department, has now grown to be a community-wide celebration of the unique spirit and people that make Austin the place we love to call home. In the 52 years since the first Yule Log was lit, the Trail of Lights has expanded to more than 40 displays, 2 million lights and holiday activities that create countless memories. Each new display, community performance and lighted tunnel has added a new layer to the holiday tradition and brought us together more as a community. Today, the Trail of Lights is one of the three largest events in Austin and receives national accolades while remaining a deeply cherished local tradition.
Austin. Join us as we kick off a season of merriment and good cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, with the annual lighting of The Driskill tree followed by a performance of holiday carols. Enjoy holiday music throughout the evening, and festive holiday cocktails and treats available in The Driskill Bar and 1886 Café & Bakery.
We hope you’ll join us as we gather together for this special Driskill holiday tradition.
The tree lighting takes place in our beautiful lobby and is complimentary for all guests and our community.
Lakeway. Happy Holidays from the City of Lakeway! The Lights On! event marks the beginning of the holiday season in Lakeway with the first lighting of the Trail of Lights behind City Hall. We invite you to join us for fun in the parking lot at City Hall (at the corner of Sailmaster and Lohmans). Enjoy some hot chocolate from the IceCream2U truck for purchase. Have fun decorating cookies, compliments of HEB, and roast a marshmallow at the fire pit! We will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items to benefit Lake Travis Crisis Ministries. Santa, Mrs. Claus and Rudolph will be nearby to ‘plug in’ the Trail of Lights display and to speak to all of the good little boys and girls of Lakeway. No dogs, please.
