Pinterest is the new Google.” I’ll never forget when someone told me that.  I was with my friend Lauren Kimmel (owner of Dallas Moms Blog) at a MOPS sponsored Girl’s Night Out and there were ten women around a table comparing their Pinterest apps.  I wasn’t obsessed yet (I’m not really now, either) so I was just drinking my wine agreeing with everyone.

Well, recently, during a terrible case of PMS, I went on an organizing rampage.  Literally a rampage.  I threw all of my husband’s clothes out of his drawers, left mid-conversation to Target to buy organizing baskets and went at it.  My husband is the grocery-put-away-man and the laundry-put-away-man and 97% of the time the way he crams our crap into cabinets and drawers doesn’t bug me, but that faithful PMS-ridden day, it did and I’m so glad!

I spent the earlier part of that day perusing Pinterest looking for 2nd Birthday Party ideas for my little lady and stumbled across some organization “pins.”  I was inspired, but unmotivated.

I usually look at these things and roll my eyes…do these people not have kids?  How do they get everything in powdered form?  Do these parents/families not buy Mac n Cheese of Pasta Roni (it’s $1!)? And then I think something like “We could never be that organized.” But then, I stumbled across this image and it resonated with me.

THIS is something I can do, throw all of our crap in baskets and then it looks more organized.  YES.  This is it.  The day I feel like organizing, this is what I’ll do.

And 45 minutes later, I had a mood swing and an hour and 45 minutes later, I had an organized pantry.

Living in an apartment with teeny tiny cabinets is a challenge, but now it’s an easier challenge to tackle.

Sorry about the picture quality.  I have an old iPhone and it takes fuzzy pictures AND it’s really difficult to get in there to take a straight picture.  Comparing the pictures it doesn’t look like it’s an incredible difference…but it is…my pantry actually makes me happy.

It’s the little things in life that make things easier and better for a mama!  What do you do to stay organized? I’m thinking of tackling the playroom next…but that gives me anxiety.

Oy Vey!

  1. I love Pinterest!  And love your cupboards.  I never thought about organizing my pantry into baskets.  This is a genius idea that I’m going to have to copy!

  2. That’s awesome !! For some reason when I PMS I start to do the same thing.. I’m happy to know I’m not the only one.

  3. LOVE Pinterest, hate PMS! I revamped my pantry a while back {pre-pinterest} and I get made fun of about it, but I am OCD and nuts about organizing LOL. I love this post, you crack me up 🙂
