We are always talking about our children on this blog. Occasionally we talk about ourselves, but for the most part we are still somehow talking about parenting, kids, kid related items, being a mom, being a wife, or in some instances, all of the above. Today I want to talk about my main mommy indulgence, the thing that makes me feel human {this is normally wine, but obviously, not while pregnant}, and my one happy place from the hours of 8-10 pm; the TV!!!
Yes, it might sound lame to some but once Lincoln goes to sleep and Wesley and I have dinner, I can’t wait to turn on the television!!! I’m sure we all have our favorite shows, but here’s a short list of mine that are CURRENTLY on! What are some shows I should add to my repertoire?
Shameless: Shameless has to be one of my biggest guilty pleasures! I don’t connect with any of the characters, but somehow I’m obsessed with all of them. You’d think that I would want to get away from shows involving kids and parenting after having been with a kid all day, but Wesley and I started this series last year and we were completely caught up on all episodes within a month. We would literally watch 2-3 episodes a night. Are you shameless?
House of Lies: We recently started House of Lies and like the above Shameless, this is a Showtime show. With only 30 minutes, I am constantly longing for more. It’s raunchy, it’s sexy, and I really love Kristen Bell. She’s so stinkin’ cute! Like Shameless, we were completely caught up on all the episodes within a week “ish”. Since we talked about lies yesterday, I guess I am just a big house of lies! 
American Idol: I am literally obsessed with American Idol! The judges change, the cast changes, but one thing remains the same; Ryan Seacrest! I’m by no means some weird Seacrest fanatic, but he absolutely makes the show so I keep wanting to come back for more. This season just kicked off and while I find Mariah Carey nails on a chalk board irritating, I was delightfully surprised at how much I loved Nicki Minaj! Tune in, because they auditions are still underway! 
The Bachelor/Bachelorette: I love this show mostly because I watch it with my sister every week. Every season I read the Reality Steve spoilers so I typically know who is walking away with the final rose WAY in advance, but I still come back week after week to see which girl cries, drinks too much, or just makes a complete fool of herself. There’s usually more than one culprit. Like American Idol, the cast changes every year with the exception of Chris Harrison. Now I’m definitely more of a lover of Seacrest than Harrison, but again, he makes the show. 
Homeland: Homeland just wrapped up their season, but I wanted to include it because it’s just that damn good!!! Claire Danes’ character totally gets on my nerves with her psycho eyeballs and the whole love affair between her character and Brody is nauseating, but I LOVE THEM!!!! I’m on the edge of my seat with this show and find myself with an accelerated heart rate for almost an entire hour. Homeland is a MUST watch. And yet again, this is another Showtime show. 
Grey’s Anatomy: It’s strange to look at this picture below since so much of the cast has changed. I’ve been watching Grey’s since its inception and I will watch the show until it takes its last breath. Wesley has finally had enough and forces me to watch it on his own time so this past weekend while he was out of town, I caught up on 4 episodes!!! Who else is an avid Grey’s fan????
The consensus here is that I couldn’t live without Showtime. 1/2 of my favorites are Showtime shows and being too impatient, I could never live off just Netflix. I’m sure we all have our indulgences and I’m sure they aren’t all television shows, but these characters allow me to live a different life if only for a couple hours. I love my life don’t get me wrong and some shows are such train wrecks that it makes me even more thankful for the life that I do live! So living a different life via TV can be a good thing too 🙂
