PicMonkey Collage FinalMaybe lighting up your life is a bit much, but you can definitely light up a room…or a hallway.

I was sick a few weeks ago and I spent the entire (I’m not joking) ENTIRE day in bed. I watched several hours of Grey’s Anatomy and spent several hours on Pinterest and started a list of projects I want to do around the house.  I, along with several other people in the world, have a new obsession with mason jars, so I am always trying to creatively find ways to use them as decoration or for function around the casa. I came across a sconce idea on Pinterest using a mug and I thought…hey…I’ll use a mason jar instead.  Here is how YOU can make your own mason jar sconce for $5.

Supplies:

1. Piece of wood-I purchased mine at Michael’s off 183 for $2.99

2. Paint and paint brush-I keep acrylic paints and paint brushes around for Caroline’s projects-Free

3. Pipe Clamp-I purchased mine at Lowe’s off 620/45 for $0.69

4. Mason Jar-I purchased this one at Hobby Lobby off 183 for $1.99 (Glassware was 1/2 off that day)

5. Tea light Candle-I for some reason have a lifetime supply of tea light candles-Free

Here’s whatcha do; it’ll take less than an hour–minus dry time.

1. Take your piece of wood and paint it whatever color your heart desires. I’m big into white and tan, so I went with white.

2. Let that bad boy dry for an hour or two.

3. Take the pipe clamp and drill it into the desired location…I couldn’t take a picture while doing this for obvious reasons.

4. Affix the mason jar to your pipe clamp.

5. Voila! You’re done. Now mess with your mason jar positioning to figure out what you like best.
