So…week three of spotlighting our amazing mamas! You’ve heard from Vanessa and Allison and now it’s Jessica’s turn.  We’re getting close to wrapping up with our blogging mamas and we’re ready to hear from you!  E-mail [email protected].

Were you “ready” to become a parent when you did?  Was it planned? I

A proposal in Scotland, 2007 (V came 3 years later)

I don’t think you’re ever 100% ready, are you?? My husband and I had been together seven years, since meeting at freshman orientation at Trinity, and had been married for twoof those years. We had travelled a lot, saved some money, gone to grad school (he was actually in it at the time), bought a house . . . so all our ducks should have been in a row but it was still a huge leap of faith!

Favorite place in Austin to spend the day with your family?

Zilker. No doubt. So much to do (check out my old blog post about it here!) and even the dog has a blast!

Favorite kid friendly restaurant?

Docs Backyard at Brodie and 290. You can have a marg while your kiddo plays.

Favorite date spot?
Date?? What’s that?? Vinnie and I used to love seeing movies so it would have to be Alamo Drafthouse. Anyone want to babysit so we can go to new one near us at Slaughter and Mo-PAC?! 🙂
Your biggest guilty pleasure?
Pizza! I love Milano Cafe on Southwest Parkway (byob!) but it’s fun to take the dog with us down to South Congress for some Home Slice.

If you could snap your fingers and talk to your pre-married/mommy self, what would you say?

Wow, you sure know a lot about having kids, huh? Maybe you should have one
and then see if you’re so smug!! Lol

What is the beauty product you never leave home without?

A face moisturizer with SPF… Stay Pretty Forever!

What baby product do you never leave home without (other than diapers and wipes for those of us with wee ones)?

A snack (HappyBaby yogurt melts, freeze-dried fruit, etc) and a book. Give her a book and some food and she’s usually happy. Sounds like her mama.
What are three things you always have with you?
I try to keep a level head, a sense of humor, and a kind spirit with me at all times. Doesn’t always work!! And is that a cop-out answer since I’m usually forgetting things I should have with me, like keys, purse, etc.?? Luckily I haven’t forgotten V yet but that day may come! 🙂

What is one thing you could work on in your relationship now that you have kiddos?

Having fun doing new things together. When we actually do get alone time, we usually just go to dinner. I’m realizing that we need to make a better effort creating new memories together outside of those including our daughter. As a matter of fact, we just signed up for the Austin Downtown Dash— should be fun!!
Your hardest parenting moment so far?
Dealing with her sleep issues. Ugh.
At V's 1st Birthday Party (c. Pitter Patter Photos)

Biggest surprise about parenting so far?

Loving her as much as I do. I get it now.

Where do you see your family in five years?

A little more seasoned, a little less stressed, a lot more organized, just as grateful and loving. . .

More kids? Will you try again?

God willing!! I would love at least two more when the time comes!
