How I Got My Bikini Body Back

Ah, Summer is almost here!! Oh crap, so that means bikini season is just around the corner!

If you are like most people, working out isn’t high on your priority list when your running around dealing with work, husband/wife, kids, pets, bills, etc.  81 days ago, that’s the boat I was in.  I knew I wanted to lose weight and get toned but I kept telling myself I was too busy and I resigned myself to wearing a tankini this summer.  Then I had a friend tell me about a free 90 day workout challenge by Bikini Body Mommy creator, Briana Christine.

“Briana first catapulted into the health and fitness industry in 2007 — following her own amazing 73-pound weight loss transformation. She is a certified personal trainer, entrepreneur, author, blogger, and devoted mother of three young children.”  First thing I did was head to her website to see what all the hype was about.  I read about Briana’s story and what inspired her to get fit in the first place.  Her before and after pictures will blow you away! Long story short, she ended up gaining weight back (you can read her bio for the full story) and she started another 90 day challenge beginning January 6, 2014, to get back in shape.

For those 90 days, you can subscribe to her meal plan for a monthly fee and eat what she eats.  I chose not to follow her meal plan because I have a huge list of food allergies and it was easier to continue on the food plan that I already follow.  Every night at 11pm she posts the workout routine for the next day.  It’s a pretty simple program in terms of time constraints and exercise tools needed.  On Monday-Wed-Friday you do the specific routine she posts via her webpage, email subscription (free) or YouTube. On Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday you can do 45 minutes of your choice of cardio or a 20 minutes HIT (High Intensity Interval Training) routine.  Sunday is your rest day and hallelujah, you will need it in the beginning!

As I mentioned before, I always felt I didn’t have the time to workout.  What I love about this challenge is most of her routines are around 15-25 minutes and you can even do it while your kiddos are running around you. What I found is that working out in front of my son encouraged him to participate and attempt to do pushups and squats with me! I’m able to show my son that taking the time to exercise is important and makes us healthier.

On day 1, you take your body measurements, weigh in and do a Fit Test.  Do not be discouraged by your Fit Test results!  I actually convinced my husband to take the challenge with me, and I think he was a bit skeptical until we took the Fit Test! I didn’t take measurements because I don’t live and die by numbers, I go by how my clothes fit my frame.  My starting weight was 155 pounds on a 5’10” frame.  I am now on day 81 and I am down to 148 pounds!  If I can do it, you can do it!
